HH track league is one of the main things i will miss about London.
Have made some awesome friends over the last two years of racing! There seem to be so many new people racing this year, which is great! Will mostly miss watching Rich winning the handicap sprint every week with a handicap of about 100 metres, and listening to illy's dirtbag mind spew out non stop verbal diarrhoea!
And will someone please, for the love of god, stop Symon Lewis from winning EVERYTHING.
Insider sources tell me he has a 140 point lead this year already...

From twitter:
If you store your own track bike at HHV 2013 payment is due by 1st May. Not paid? Contact our bikes team ASAP http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/contact/
If you store your bike at the track don't ignore this. If you haven't paid, contacted them or removed your bike it might get 'impounded'

Was last week Saturday a fairly average basic training session?
What's the jump from basic to intermediate like, I'm really looking to stretch my legs and come out feeling tired next week where in beginners I came out feeling like I could have done it again twice more.
It's about skill level and experience on the track rather than fitness. The basic sessions are meant to teach you all you need to know to be safe in the intermediate sessions, once you get to them it's more of a work out. Stick with the basics for 2 more weeks (maybe go out for a little spin on the road afterwards or on sunday for extra training), learn what you need to train safely, then come to intermediates and/or monday race training.

Gearing should be between 82 and 88 gear inches for novice riders. (48 x 15 (86″) is ideal for adult riders) a slightly higher ratio around 88-90 gear inches is preferred for racing.
From http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/starting/bikes/. So 50 x 16 (84") is prettty good.

I find it helpful to look a few riders ahead of me, anticipating any potential slowdowns or acceleration and adjusting my speed gradually. For example knowing when slower riders are taking turns at the front. It was a little frustrating at times today but not dangerous at all.
Good observation is very important, it helps you ride more safely, but also helps you save energy. Like you say it's much better to look a few riders ahead of you or towards the line, and reacting to changes in pace before they reach you, rather than staring at the person in front and have to react suddenly.
Anyone thinking of racing who hasn't tried it yet should come along to the Go-Race novice racing on 27th April in the afternoon. You will be racing with other first-time racers so it won't be quite as intense. I'll try to get more details up soon, but it'll be a similar price to the training sessions and you can enter on the day (just turn up like you would for training). Arrive just before 2pm, warm up on the track from 2, the first races will be at 2.30pm. /You do not need a racing licence or need to be a member of a club to take part.
http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/racing_events/track_racing/calendar_and_results/New for this year there is also a C category in track league, which will be easier than the Bs - if you can keep up with the intermediate session you'll have no problem at all http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/racing_events/track_racing/track_league/index.html
Race training on monday nights is also a good bet for you to get the idea of what racing is like.

The session will be running on Thursday. The track will be open for warm-up from about 6pm then we'll start the derny element of the sessions whenever the volunteer drivers can get there from work. It might mean we only get two 20 minute sessions behind the derny, but is a good way to ease yourself into it.

I do enjoy how these threads turn into a flame fest, being constructive is much easer than acting like a d**k. Try it some time.

Yup, almost impossible to set up Sphincters to fit with in the rules. Though the "The area of the point of support of the hands on the handlebars is defined by the diagram below:" makes it a little ambiguous (you could maybe argue the point of support falls within the box, even if the entire bar doesn't). Doubt you'd ever get picked up on it unless you race anything big.

Some fairly useful videos here http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/track/article/tra20120112-track-Youth-Sprintfest-2012-heading-to-Manchester-Velodrome-0#.UTOez3ZCBsU.facebook
Cue cynical critique about why these are actually bollocks...

But they're resting riders at that point, no?
I'm sure he was balling about Borat's mate moving up, but if he's only looking as far as his own front wheel then...WAC.
FFS, sprint numpties commenting on proper racing. They aren't resting riders they're live, several changes at once so the racing string has gone close to the fence. He comes down a little early after swinging off the front, then the overlap stays as the whole string moves up and he doesn't move up enough with it. +1 on the hand position though.
