whoah ... far too gruesome !!!
hope you're on the mend fella .... doesn't john wayne normally poor some gunpowder over stuff like that and then set fire to it to corterize the wound ... there could be some whisky involved too, but not sure when and where ..anyway i have one set of goalposts and a few mallets here, but i'm not available for thursday ... wasn't sure if other peeps were planning to play on thursday, but if so, let me know and i'll get the posts/mallets to you somehow.
-
... sounds like a men from Blyth could feel right at home there ... i guess there's not enough discarded needles to get that authentic Cowpen vibe, ....
... catch youz all the morro ...
.. how do we feel about the sanitised structuralism of a regional delegate within a formalised national polo dictate ... or am i only marxist here ??? -
thats the plan fella ... still lots of options to play with, and the paintwork is pretty rough, but its looking good enough for polo ... does feel like you're pedalling in a gentrified manner between airbases in oxfordshire.
... managed to get the 3 gears to work eventually until the adjuster snapped, so its cable tied in 1st for now until i can find some new parts
... and the side stand is staying ... always used to laugh at them, but it's making too much sense at the minute....
i'll be at polo on sunday ...
... how was the new venue ? -
Anyone need a bike 4 polo .... sally is now ready to go to the skip, but is still pretty much together enough if anyone needs a polo hack .... running 32 : 20T freewheel (got an old BB lock ring too if you wanna fit a track cog and run fixed) .. piss poor chain line (its just an old 5speed with the cassette removed) ... 2 taco'd wheels that are just about straight enough to ride, ... and some previous where one of the tubes meets the rear dropout
... but its free
.. you'll need a chain -

no worries .. it was fun to get out on the rudge ... not sure about 40 year old coaster brakes though
... so get me up to speed here, the gateshead venue by the river is a synthetic surface, so the only real contender at present seems to be the school basketball court by saltwell park ... and we're sticking to a 6pm start.
... did you guys try it out last week ? -
-
i'm in ... are we playing at gossy park still, or is the gateshead schoolyard venue the new home for polo ?
curious to see how my recently acquired 1966 rudge sport, takes to the world of polo ... no name for it as yet, but being a rudge, it might just end up as "Mr Dredd"...i do need to start smoking a pipe though

i'm gonna be away down south on sunday, so won't be able to make the hoults yard thingy .... if you take plenty of spare mallets ... maybe even a spare bike, i'm sure you'll get plenty of volunteers for a 3 on 3.... its gonna be full of bikers
just a discussion point really, but if everyone prefers gossy park, and the only problem is lighting .... then why don't we get our heads together and come up with some lighting solutions ... halogens aren't stupid money .... all that's needed then is a power source, and a means to get it to the event each week and we're sorted.

happy to chip in too
...didn't someone mention that the feral youth had a strong presence at that gateshead venue ... and i think someone also suggested this basketball court, attached to some 5 a side courts by saltwell park ..,, edendale terrace .. junction of prince consort road and durham road
.. its part of a school ... so not sure about access .... just looked on the street view and it has lights.. actually i'm prolly gonna be too busy to make wednesday anyway

.... might sound daft ... but i reckon this one would actually have easier to get to than the bristol tourney ..
http://www.lfgss.com/thread50506.html
... we really should think about this one for next year ... indoor tourney ... holland ... sounds like paradise to me ...

.. to be honest the Brommie is the most fun i've had on 2 wheels .. you really can't help but smile when you ride it ... and it likes to stop off for coffee and beer ... it insists on heading off down wee back lanes to go exploring, but most importantly, when you're tired or drunk, or the weather goes all geordie, you can put in the boot, or go home on the bus or the metro ... so parting with it will be hard
... that said, if the cash flow goes tits up in a few weeks time, its the only thing at hand that i can sell for decent wonga, so it may well have to go .. -

that was my thinking phil .. but i do have the locking ring from an old BB to help secure it .. and i'll prolly leave the brakes on ..
.. but first i need to get the cassette off to see if its an nice iso thread, or the stupid maillard helicoil thingy, or worse, some daft french standard thread.
if its iso, then fixie it will be .. if not then i need to look at some new wheels .. trouble is there's so much nice bike porn to look at, that a young man could get quite carried away ..
good call gav ....
.. anyone else ?
