One of the nice things about my calorie counter is it splits the day upfor me (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) and bolloxes me if I don't eat enough in any one meal (especially breakfast).
Excuse my laziness but have you mentioned what counter you're using? Calorie intake is a real bore for me and I've tried a few different packages for tracking it but none have really grabbed me.

If I walk on big crack on the pavement with my right foot, I have to walk on the same crack, but inverted, on my left foot, so they feel the same.
Drives me mental.Oh, fuck. Someone else who does this.
I also have a left-first-then-right compulsion whilst dressing. Left sock then right sock but socks absolutely must be complete before shoes.
Oh, and if there's any exposed timber within reach I have to touch it.

I don't know him but his lineage seems legit. I haven't seen him at Roger's place but I don't get up there that often myself.
I was going to say that calling would be a better option but noticed there's no phone number on his site.
It's obviously a longer trip but why don't you come over to Roger's to do your free trial and see if you're interested in keeping it up? I can absolutely vouch for the quality and friendliness of the instruction there (standard 'random guy on the internet' disclaimers apply obviously)
I live in New Cross Gate, after the experience above, I have emailed this guy:
about going to train twice a week in Stockwell. Haven't had a reply yet. Does anyone train there? Have any experiences / recommendations of where to train in london?

Piss poor IMHO and pretty unusual for BJJ places from my (admittedly not huge) experience. I'd definitely try somewhere else. Whereabouts are you located?
I went to a BJJ class tonight with a mate. My mate has been training for the last couple of months in Portugal whilst he has been there. We picked a gym and emailed them to get ourselves into an introductory class. After the warm up, the instructor demonstrated a move a couple of times and then people paired up to practice it.
As a relative beginner and a complete beginner, we were not exactly perfect. When we asked for a bit of assistance, the instructor told us that he wouldn't help us as we had not committed to the gym, that he had to help the others, and that anyway, he was part way through a cycle of techniques and we should try to get on with it. The result was that we grappled and watched others as best we could for about 40mins of a 1hr class.
I thought that this was pretty piss poor, and am unlikely to return as a result. Is this usual? Or would I be better off trying a couple of places?

For sure. There are some monsters in the judo classes. Strong and fast like all judo players seem to be as well.
On a Tuesday we have BJJ downstairs whilst there's an advanced judo class upstairs. For awhile we used to regularly go up there for the last 20 minutes or so and do newaza with the judo guys. That was interesting (and fun)
Yeah I used to see a lot of Team GB in there, some BIG dudes to throw about!
It's a good club, nice area too :)

Oh god, yes! Sooo many hours of my life playing those games and messing around with the level editors. I didn't realise it was OSS now...could be dangerous :)
Did anyone play this back in the day? I played mods that used it, and recently got the whole thing now that its open source.
Awesome game, really engaging story line- its by the same people who did the Halo games, and IMO the best FPS i've ever played.

Sorry for the delayed response. It was fun, the most tiring single event of my whole life. Emotionally and Physically draining. I treated it as too much of a grappling match though so will be substantially improving my stand-up game before my next fight in september. Cant wait to get back in there! I dont have any footage im afraid, the dude I fought does but I need to get it off him at some point.
Props for stepping in there tbh. Where are you fighting in Sep?
sounds good mate, Im a mere whitebelt but have been doing no gi for around a year, I'm gonna be defending my under 78kg title at a grapple comp at the end of july! shits gonna go downnn! I agree about grappling being one of the funnest parts. deffo my favorite.
War Blankface!

In fact, technically it wouldn't be a RNC if you made use of the gi. The clue is in the name :-D
RNC is hard to get in the gi as well. Too much friction. It's much, much easier to get the arm around the neck properly in no-gi.
In a gi I'll generally try and get the collar choke if I have back mount rather than try a RNC at all.Oh, you can do a rear naked choke without any part involved wearing a t-shirt or Gi.

I find people generally tap quicker to chokes as the pain and 'danger' sensation when someone places pressure on your windpipe is, as you say, very strong and immediate. People will try and resist strangles for longer.
If youre behind its a better, but If youre doing a strangulation from the front, you can use the collar as long as you slide youre hands under the collar as far back as you can using your wrist area to cut off blood.
strangulations are better as the cut the blood flow to brain and a person under stress can pass out in seconds. Choke is longer as you cut of the wind pipe but is more painful and youre more aware so its scarier. -
Bepanthen nappy-rash cream on mine. Worked well.
