Hi all,
Quickly - need to buy new bb and headset for my road bike - which I bought on here:
http://www.lfgss.com/thread80805.html
....so I need to work out what size headset to ger and if it's threaded/threadless? (do I just measure headtube diameter?)
Also need to work out bb size - will I have to take the current one out to do this?
Im new to all this and it's still quite confusing !Thanks a million

hmmmm thanks for this.......decided to hold off on mtb shoes/clip in's just for now......get the important stuff in and take it from there budget wise !!
Heliums could work.....im only 11.5st too ! But worried if I slam one of those killer pot holes on Liverpool S one day that il end em in one foul swoop? What you asking for em? pm me if better. Thanks

Ah yes thanks for that.
So yes something that would suit the bike - does'nt have to be completely period correct wheelset - close to what I have now but in much better nick! Someting that will last on the shitty roads of east London- I like running 25 clinchers, not fussed about having super thin/light wheels - very rarely ride outside of the city.
OLN rear is 130.....id like to ditch the screw on freewheel vibes and go
with a freehub.....probs a 7 speed casette.
How viable is it to try a hyperglide type set up - I want to stick with down tube shifters tho?
Basically the gearing on the current setup has been a nightmare from day 1. Recently replaced the rear derailleur which helped but the freewheel is close to death and the having to constantly re-adjust both front and rear derailleur to stop chain rubbing/noise and gearing probs.....not to mention jumping gears of it's own accord and chain coming off once or twice !
Just want something smooth and reliable. Thanks again

I posted here and spent a while looking for freewheel/inner ring....and then come into a few quid- so have decided to overhaul for the summer.
To go on this http://www.lfgss.com/thread80805.html
now looking for:
700c wheelset
Chainset - pref double w/ bb
headset
mtb/recessed cleat shoes (and pedals)......seeking bits appropriate to bike.
Should I measure tubing to make this easier? Thanks all !

Thanks Mr Cow (and others who pm'd !)
So I have to try and sort out exactly what I need to buy ! Here's why.....
Pretty sure im running on one of these at the moment (the broken freewheel):
on one of these:
....so any ISO threading freewheel, right?!
Im most deffinitley not a bike mechanic- but just want to get some nice bits (and the right bits!) from the community here before paying to get the work done.
Thanks !

Hey all,
So - I have this:
http://www.lfgss.com/thread80805.html
.......on which the freewheel is going to die very soon!
Also needs a new 42t chainring.......and a new chain too.
Anyone got anything ? 14>28 (pref 7 speed)
Or could recommend a good source for buying new? Thanks

Saw this today - them young lads on the store with the van next to it on the right hand side of Sclater St had it going for £150-----managed to take a quick sly cameraphone pic (attached to this post) as they would'nt let me take photos......dissuaded a couple of people off it but in the end some guy got it for £130 I think........it was a fixy- and most components are visible from the pic as I did'nt get a good close look- it went in 5 mins maybe !
Hate the way it's just this open, roaring trade in stolen goods.
There was a kid with a bike for £100 which had 2 snipped spokes on it bold as brass from the theft !Got a chain for £10 from one of the hardware guys on the other side- so not all bad...
It's cheese chain really but will do the job til my mate gets his 50% Evans deal going ! -

Hi all,
I have already found some bikes to look at and very helpfull people on here which is great..........
I thought I would put out a request on a thread too....
Im looking for a complete bike from someone on here if possible (people who have some interest in bikes and not dodgy Brick Lane bandits !).
Single speed/flip flop 58cm (approx as bit flexible on this !) max £170 (not a lot I know)Wil consider anything- even quite like the idea of a polo bike !!
I know about Gumtree and Ebay too obviously..............
Thanks to all- this site is a Godsend !!

Hi Varno......think I was unclear on my post.
Id like to buy some of the road wheels, but I need to make sure I can specify the freehub body to be 7 speed (to fit my cassette).......is that possible?
I could'nt see an option to do this on the website.
Thanks again
