depends what it looks like and where it is, I've recently taken to riding my 1.5k mtb with street tires on while my fixed gear gets a new frame. it looks like crap though muddy and no flash at all, I leave it locked up all day in the nicer parts of bristol (sorry not london) but worry about it if it out of my sight at all in other parts. I use two D locks.

Yes it will be monsoon season, which means your views of the amazing mountains will be limited. You'll be at the bottom of the driving food chain on a bike as well, I'd expect to be run off the road fairly often. Although nepal is utterly beautiful and the people, in my experience at least, are friendly and wonderful.
Have you checked that the border you want to use takes foreigners?

I am planned to be fully self sufficient with tent, sleeping bag, inflatable mattress etc. with the only exception that I don't want to carry cooking equipment which even the lightest one add a whooping 2kg worth of extra weight.
I have a Revelate Designs Viscacha saddlebag that's quite possibly the best saddlebag money can buy, and his latest design is even better addressing some of the fault I've found with the old design.
Framebag will be the Alpkit Stingray which is an amazing value for a custom bag that fit neatly in your frame triangle, I will not be having bottles as a single hydration pack is enough to carry 3 or 4 bottle worth of water which I'll insert in the framebag.
The framebag will have more compartment and room than the current one I got that's also from Revelate Designs, meaning I can carry my inflatable mattress, clothes and toliettes in it instead of the saddlebag.
I was planning the same but I want to take a jet boil (500g) so I can at least have hot tea and coffee and I can also take along packets of soup and noodles, it's not much weight for a massive comfort increase (for me).
I've been fairly seriously considering wildcat bikepacking bags, as they are seem to be very high quality from what I have read. I think I'm set on getting a cyclocross bike as a base as I do want to be happy off road, and I'm worried a normal road bike won't last being taking on touring trips. Probably with 35C marathon supremes.

try stripping the BB and soaking in GT85 overnight or longer before giving it another go. It's designed to penetrate. if you really can't get it out just use a shorter spindle.
Edit: I mean soak the BB shell, I normally would have plastic down and spray loads on with the frame lying down and repeat every 6 to 12 hours or so then try and loosen before you turn it over and repeat. I'd also start with stick end down first.

cans are better than in-ear headphones though. I've used er20's (I'ev got more than one set) but I find them a little large and they are slightly obtrusive. I liked the alpine music safe ones with the exchangeable filters, they are smaller, it's less obvious your wearing them and you get three for when you lose one, and you can keep them on your keyring.
