I've seen a Pinarello Lungavita and a Condor something around lately. Bikes are getting right fancy round these parts.

Nitrogen can't escape as easily as oxygen so the tyres (should) hold pressure for longer. That's how they try and sell it for use in car tyres anyway.

It's not so much the lack of gloves (I use Sealskinz Winter Gloves) but that I have Raynauds. Doesn't matter how hardcore the gloves are, if it's cold and I'm touching a cold metal bike then they are likely to go numb.

I can testify to seeing this, mainly as I span past on my £300 Claude butler. Hilarious. There is a strange joy to overtaking a £2000 bike, on one that cost £300.

If I could afford a really expensive carbon bike, I'd have a really expensive steel bike. It's good that they're spending their money on bikes though, the more the merrier.

Too cold for me. My hands were useless by the time I got into work this morning. Took me 5 mins to get the bike shed lock open.

What spenceey said, invest in gloves. My dhb ones are great until minus figures, only downside is they're far too hot above a few degrees.

Nothing as steep as Gas Hill but they're bigger than most round these parts. Just get some 50+ mile rides under your belt, preferably North Norfolk as it has some slopes. There'll be plenty of carbon crawling up the hills on the day.

I believe we were looking at around 5h30, should be fine with a group and absences of punctures / skipping chains.

It's a week earlier than usual so hopefully we miss the usual icy rain and coastal headwind, maybe even no mechanicals this time.

Norwich 100 is fine on fixed just don't underestimate the coast road, it resembles actual hills. However, I will be geared for both that and this.

But I only have 20 gears between 3 bikes, I'm not fully qualified yet! I'm still up for Fridays in principle but I have work and personal commitments that have to come first. Sunday mornings would be better for me, like a proper roadie.

I'm a terrible person and had to drop out. mitigating circumstances though, spent most of yesterday refitting a door and hacksawing the corner off a sofa to get it unstuck in the worst bit of house moving I've ever been part of. Next week, fingers crossed.
