Hello All,
I'd like to offer for sale here, my 3 month old Genesis Flyer in a 54cm frame. It costs £600 new, and i have added £20 of MKS pedals, but the saddle, computer, and lights in the photos are not, the stock genesis saddle will be included.
It has been well looked after, and is in perfect working condition, and i'll say 9/10 cosmetic condition. I would like £350 cash on collection from Canary Wharf. Serious buyers are welcome to pop round in the evening or weekend and have a look. I'm only planning on selling to fund my first ever project build, so am unlikely to drop the price as if it doesn't sell i'll probably turn it into my first ever project build!
Thankyou,
Any questions, please ask or email thanks. -

They had an easy time of it though the other week, it wasn't locked (hadn't been locked for the previous year either!) i thought the height was enough deterrant, and for a year it was! Still dont know how they did it! but rather than an unchained bike on the balcony, there's now a faghetaboutit holding it to the top railing which is far too thick to get bolt cutters through, and cant slide left to right due to the balcony lugs, and the extra chain going through the railings and the wheels. I feel it's pretty secure now, and its obviously still insured! I like the tarp idea, or maybe some thick bamboo behind the railings to block off visibility?!
I kind of agree with the missus that a dirty, oily bike shouldn't be kept on our cream carpets though!

Hello All,
Right, my first proper post, most of my others had been within the stolen bike thread :(But as you may have already read http://www.lfgss.com/post1319164-3629.html , my Langster Monaco got lifted off an extremely high balcony the other week, and has just been replaced with the new Genesis Flyer, which i'm starting to like an awful lot! It's a bit heavier than my langster, the alloy fork over the carbon fork is probably the cause of that, I doubt the comedy bike horn my little brother bought me (so feel obliged to attach) doesn't help too much eather!
Swapped the horrible standard pedals for some MKS platforms like i used to have, and love, but havent got toe straps on them yet, will leave it a bit and see how it goes without for a week or to as its single speed, not fixed. Saddle's good but not great, but off the shelf saddles never are are they! and i'm a little bit peeved that the rear brake cable is attached using cheap black plasti-ties down the top tube, rather than the nice chrome ones pictured, but hey ho!
The new addition to the balcony is a mini faghetaboutit, and an extra chain! Theiving Scum!
The problem I face, bike easily visible from road / park / canary wharf!

can i ask what chain he used so i dont buy the same one to lock up my new insurance replacement!!
Just had an interesting couple of hours. Stix rings me in a panic an hour ago - that someone had put their lock through her bike on a quiet side street in Balham. MOC being an owner of a large set of bolt cutters and not wanting to miss the opportunity of using them especially on his birthday, accompanied me to her location.
When we got there, the owner of a BMX had put an oxford chain lock very clearly through stix's bike - but here's the weird thing - he didn't lock his own bike at all, it was like he missed putting it through his frame completely. Anyway Stix had by this point called the Police and the Fire Bridgade who were unwilling to help, and Brixton Cycles who didn't have any cutters, she'd knocked on all the doors on the street to try and find out who owned the BMX but had no joy.
Needless to say MOC's cutters went through the chain fairly easily - but to give the owner the benefit of the doubt, we cut it right near the end (it was like a fagh chain and had a mini dlock securing it) so he's only lost a couple of links on the chain and can still use the lock. I then repositioned the chain around his bike so it looked like it was locked, he'll prob be rather confused when he comes back to his bike if he was legit, I was tempted to leave a 'better luck next time fuckwit' note but thought better of it.

my langster has still not turned up, so now assuming it never will, the insurance company asked me if i wanted another - only available in black now though, black's a bit dull for me so i got one of the 2010 genesis flyers in blue which looks like a reasonable replacement given the bike radar review: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/urban/product/flyer-10-36093
stolen and down... but not out!!!

Any luck?
Unfortunately not. I spoke to "Mark" friday at 3pm, and he said i could come round either that evening of the following day, i said i'd have to see when i could get out of work, rang the local CID who said if i insised on going round they couldnt stop me, and they would feel obliged to go with me, however it is against the rules for them to suggest i go as that technically counts as them getting me to spy on him!
...they said if i gave less than an hours notice they would be unable to convince me not to go, and would have to go with me, and the best time for this would be sometime after 1am on Saturday (wink wink nudge nudge).
But marks phone went dead by 5pm and has been off since (pay as you go sims swapped?!?) so i was unable to meet. Went to Brick lane sunday, but didnt get there till about 11 so missed it, if it was even there in the first place. So insurance money here i go...!

Thanks, please dont contact the seller, police have been notified and my own plans are unfolding, will update you all tonight... cheeky bugger listing something as identifyable as that less than 12 hours after it's stolen!
It's a google images pic. just type "specialized langster" and that appears on the front page.
though i'm not 100% sure it's mine for clarity, just the same model, size, colour, as the one which was stolen from me last night, listed for sale less than a mile away from me this afternoon...

Ah, good thinking, i've taken it off gumtree, and will keep my eyes open!
...no definitely not the neighbours (i think) there's no access across balconies, only up and down and that's difficult enough. They would need to get a bloody great big ladder into the ground floor flats garden (and they have a 7ft wall around that), and then up 3 balconies, then get the thing down... can't believe it.

Hi Guys. would love my first post to be introducing myself and my bike, but unfortunately it is to inform you that my bike was solen last night from the Mile End area of East London. It is an instantly recognisable Specialized Langster in the Monaco colour scheme, and came off of a 3rd floor balcony sometime last night! Is non standard parts are:
Ends of handlebars removed and replaced with red vortex end plugs.
Plastic pedals removed and replaced with steel MKS ones
Valve caps replaced with red aluminium onesI've of course reported it to the local police, and here are some photos for you all, you really cant miss it!
Any info would be welcome to either me, henry.willetts@googlemail.com 07771550855 or Bow Police 0300 123 1212
thankyou!
If it sells, i'll have to use my cheap halfords run around for a week or two while i put a new one together, it's nothing to show off, but i'll still be peddaling at least.
I'll be honest mattoo, splitting's a right pain, and i dont really want to do it (though i think about £200 would be right), i'd rather sell in one go, but you can actually buy just the frame from Evans Cycles for £280 brand new here: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/flyer-520-2010-road-bike-frame-set-ec021327?query=genesis
thanks.
