change.
The girl opposite me at work wants to cycle in with me. I resist because she is slow and is always late to arrive.
(Hints today that she cycled with father, from Wimbledon. I resist invite invitation, for now)
What do? Cycling with her adds at least 15 minutes - she can't even cross main roads. But she is quite fit (but has bf).
I should be nice, no?

Same thing--are your data understood as comprised in a set, or are you talking about the individual items? In the previous sentence, I'm clearly talking about the individual data, for instance.
It doesn't matter which way you use it. Whatever way the brits choose the yanks will just flip it around, and we'll be back at square one.

At purple black bike man. Seriously, fuck what the bike police/nazis say. Enjoy it. Many of the slagger-offers on this forum know very little else outside of it and only got into cycling through the 'fixie' boom and now tout themselves as the be all and end all of all that matters on here. One day all forum members will be to scared to use a little imagination and fun when they next build a bike, a wave of conformist sterile looking machines shall course through the grey city streets with riders not even being able to exchange glances due to fear of damnation toward their colourfull Deep V rim, frame thats an inch and a half too big....or god forbid......a purple tyre. And a message to the ones who are new to the whole fixed thing. Encouragement is the key, and if you find, in years to come that your love for the velo has blossomed and bloomed then please don't turn into a snob and chop down the next generation of potentially happy cycling people. It helps and achieves absolutely fuck all.

surely if you post a picture of yourself and you bike, you open yourself up for a bit of ribbing? c'mon.
Forums are a great place for slinging insults...esp. from behind pseudonyms...

As far as I'm aware some parts have been closed off but those were the bits just after the dome before greenwich where they're demolishing some stuff to put up flats. Southwark cyclists will know.

hah! A post i can comment on with authority.
I've had mine a couple of months. General impressions are good, but the more I think about it, the more the bike feels quite heavy. The wheels esp. It's my first SS and I haven't tried it fixed yet.
The freehub it came with was a piece of shit. I say was because after one very wet commute the thing completely destroyed itself and had to be replaced. Cyclesurgery replaced for free, but told me it was a cheap Taiwanese crap component. So it's nice to know they trust the bikes they sell.
The mondo tyres were also crud. I quickly discovered white tyres are basically a waste of time. The ones it came with were pretty crap in the wet and puncture easily; two punctures later the tyres had wholes which I could see the inner tube through. I took them off and have some black tyres now...
Otherwise I'm happy with it. My grips are still pretty white.

Awesome pics, did you take them yourself?
I should also say thank you for your kind words.
The top ones is a bit blurry though - I was excited (!) as I dashed up to the bridge over duke st., i thought i would miss everyone. I knocked a chap as I ran up too, but he was very good about it. I also apologised profusely...
some weirdos on the bridge also asked me what it was all about. they were excited too. 'twas a good evening.

2 years in, and I have never started a thread. Haven't really said anything useful either. I think I fit in well.
That's hilarious, and the general impression I get from browsing is that there is a core of 'useful' posters, and a bunch of sheep, like me, that digest their offerings, and offer pithy comments in return, some of which are helpful, most of which are just distractions...

The long, nore gentle (but still 13%) side is the way we're going. The savage short bit we're going down - will mean brakeless young blades should be prepared to think the unthinkable and dust off that monoplaner and dirt harry combo.
I went down that side yesterday, with brakes and SS. Wouldn't want to do it fixed though...traffic on that road is a bit scary. But if someone's blocking then surely people can bomb down at their leisure, into the garbage cans over the road.
-
went out in preparation for this yesterday.
managed to get up Canonbie Rd (the steep side) on fixed -
looking forward to itThat's pretty savage. I went up the gentler but longer side yesterday on my fixed, which wasn't too bad if you get a running start and keep plugging. Couldn't contemplate the steep side with the traffic though.

central london is a bit of a shithole lately for cyclists. I had the misfortune of being in Leicester sq last night - limited parking, one way streets, roadworks. Waterloo bridge was also a hazard at 6:30ish.
Roadworks by leicester sq meant that some clever sods had decided to channel peds through a narrow set of orange plastic barriers. They were rammed in there, like chickens.
Traffic (cars) moved freely.
