The main reason I like running in the rain is that all the stray dogs go and find somewhere to hide and all the assholes that walk their dogs through my neighbourhood without leads are inside.
That and getting covered in mud and not caring.Went out last night for the first time in ages, no watch, no map. Really enjoyed running for runnings sake, not aiming for any time or training goal. The only problem was the dogs as usual.
Might start carrying a stick, or start taking gels as fuel intead of bacon.

Just got back from wathcing a Polish movie - Sala Samobojcow(Hall of suicides)
Quite a dark movie about a teen who gets drawn into virtual online world as an escape from bullying about his sexuality. This online community feeds his depression and leads him to consider a suicide pact with a girl he met only through the internet.
I can't decide if I liked it as a film itself or simply because it is one of the first recent Polish movies I have seen that tries to tackle such dark subjects is in a very different style than most other Polish media I have seen.
I'm not sure if they are releasing it in the UK or not but if you can find a translation it is worth a look.

I find the news reports about things like that a bit ridiculous - it sounds as on finding one dog alive everybody should heave a sigh of relief and say - oh thats ok then. I just don't see it as the 'hopeful' news that the reports introduces it as.
How about a nice report about all the fantastic volunteers involved in the clean up and rescue operation. That is something that does show hope, that people are not all selfish.
(I'm not really a grumpy bitter person.......really I'm not. I'm feel genuinely happy for the dog)

Since the snow thawed a lot of roads have not been swept and there is loads of gravel and small debri scattered everywhere. It seems that for every 3 miles I ride I managed to shoot a small stone out at quite high speed in a random direction.
The other day a very nice lady gave way to me in here little renault - I gave a wave of thanks and my ungrateful tyres decided to shoot a stone into her wing mirror. Luckily, no damge done and she didn't seem to be too worried by it.
Anybody managed to hit anything else like a pedestrian, or break something?

Yeah I couldn't find a more recent post that was more or less on topic.
So I'm not going to bother with the spacers - I can even close the gap just tightening with my fingers so I can't imagine it is such a huge strain on the dropout.I am stuck for bike shops here. As I have said before - they all want to sell you a new frame(MTB of course) or something else rather than fix your problem.
This shop is the first I actually found that had a mechanic who wasn't a grumpy arse and was actually interested in helping me build a bike. This is the first dodgy advice I have heard from him though.
Thanks guys -
After a bit of reading here, I was fairly confident that I could put a 120mm hub into a 126mm dropout, with spacers but I just got back from the bike shop who said that I shouldn't and it would be better to replace it.
His argument was that the hub needed direct contact with the frame not through spacers. I am not sure if it was my mistranslation of Polish or if that is what he was saying.I'm not sure what to do now - It seems like I could just tighten the nuts and it would squeeze the frame together - it is only 3mm each side after all. Is that safe or should I put in some spacers? If so do 'spacers' mean any washer I can find or is there a special requirement?
Thanks -

Thanks for the opinions, wasn't expecting to get that much feedback.
For a first try at slide film I am satisfied and now I have a better idea of what to expect from it. In hindsight I would have done a couple of things differently - bring a tripod and go alone. Most of the shots were rushed as I was on a hiking trip with my parents and wasn't able to spend long setting up and planning, just meter and shoot. It was my first time incident metering too and I have another shot of the lodge that has 2 more stops of exposure( a guessed shot) which didn't really work out.

Just got back my first set of slides and I really like the results. I bought sensia 200, as it was cheap and I only wanted to try it out.
I'm kicking myself because I didn't take a tripod with me and loads of pics were spoiled as I had to use such a large aperture that DOF was an issue. I thought that most of my shots would be in snow and not in sheltered forest so I left it at home.
It's a shame it is so expensive to develop.
