Stairs project parked for the minute, now a small plumbing job question.

I forgot to wrap our outside tap in a recent frost and it’s sheared off. Is there a clever way of extracting the threaded part of the tap left inside the wall plate or easier to just replace the whole thing?

Yep, stripping the risers is hard work. I’m going to pull more carpet up this weekend to see what the wood is like and get a carpenter friend of a friend in to take a look before I make any decisions. Cheers

In need of a sense check.

We have very tatty old carpet on our stairs and landings (two flights of 14 steps, 2 landings) and I’m keen on ditching the carpet and renovating the wood. I’ve stripped the paint off a couple to see what’s underneath (see pics) and would be interested to hear from people who’ve done similar if the condition of the wood is good enough to make this worthwhile.

Bedroom also has 2 dimmable lamps, so isn’t the main source of lighting. Just trying to work out what style of light would be best really. It’s located over the bed, so pendent style probably not ideal and would want it to diffuse soft light too. So, ceiling mounted I assume

Kitchen definitely pendent style, but really unsure about the bedroom. The fitting is above the bed so don’t want it to hang too far. I’ve been trawling John Lewis etc and am going blind by the sheer number.

I’ve just had a few of these put in at our place. I wanted wired so I can control them through Home Assistant and wasn’t too bothered about hiding the wire.

What is the best option for clearing loads of stuff from a house that’s still occupied?
It’s my wife’s parents, they’re in their late 80s and the house is too much for them to manage. There’s been some hoarding going on for a while and we need to get it out of the house so it can be cleaned properly and maintained going forward. It’s a real mix of newspapers/magazines, some furniture, old exercise equipment, clothes, blankets etc.
Is a small skip the best plan? Or is this the sort of thing a house clearance firm would take on?
