You sold your own bike at a great price and had a great experience, which is good, and happens a lot on the forum. There must be reasons (and not only financial ones) that you did that here and not eBay or marketplace etc. The ethos of fair deals and good spirit is what makes it a good place to sell too, it works both ways

Personally I don’t mind a few ‘hissy fits’ after something like the omnium thread, I think it shows people care. I also think the reactions to stuff like this actually is a part of how the forum self-polices and maintains that ethos within the classified section.

Think I’ve managed to oil and reassemble the hub OK… I was waiting on a replacement left bearing cone from US eBay, watched my fedex updates for two weeks, and when it finally arrived turns out it wasn’t a left bearing cone in my parcel… but a (quite interesting looking) book on systems mathematics… a shipping label mix up somewhere I guess. So something to read while I wait for the seller to resend the right item!

Rolling chassis is up, and pelago fenders fitted. Will need some good mudflaps I reckon, might pick up some pdw ones from condor. Went for marathon plus in the end because cba removing the drum brake and shift cable every time I take the rear wheel off for a puncture!

I run 38c paselas (which measure up around 35 iirc) in my 45s, which is a pretty close but good fit. I’d say if your current tyres don’t fit though, it’s still worth sizing down tyres slightly to run the pdws for a frame with that clearance, they’re great

Yeah unless you already have tried and have a preference for super wide drops I wouldn’t get caught up in the hype

I guess that measurement would give you a bar of 42/44 for best fit in the traditional way. Hard to say without seeing the rack/frame/stem set up what will fit. You might have to find some drops to try and see what feels right

Cowchippers are great. I have 42s on my gravel bike. I would say I am usually comfy on a 42 or 44 regular drop bar.

I don’t think your height and frame size would be as relevant as your shoulder width, so it’s hard to recommend. It also depends if you’re trying to replicate your usual drop bar fit, or you want to have a wider feel or need space for a barbag. Personally, I first tried them in 46, but was much happier sizing down to 42, but it’s all preference really
