Yeah got that impression. Have rebooked for an earlier Eurostar and a longer connection before. Luckily raileurope app is v easy on exchanges, and no fees.
Will wait to hear the reply on the bike spaces now. Filling out a whole word doc, returning it, and then just waiting til they decide to get back to you is the maddest booking system

Ffs just booked a couple of trains and then emailed to book bikes on. Suddenly there are loads more time restrictions on which trains you can travel which aren’t on the web page about travelling with bikes
Has anyone had recent experience about how strict they are on the ‘drop your bike off 90mins before departure time’ bit? Coming from a connecting train, so that seems unlikely to work with what I’ve booked currently

I know its an etap one so different body, but looks like some 28 rated srams clear 32... Only one way to find out I guess
-
I think if you're trying to put a longer cage on a force 22 short cage RD, the drivetrain capacity will increase, but the deraillieur body will still be rated to 28t, like Netakure says. The max tooth ratings are normally conservative though, so whether the short cage one could actually manage 32t anyway, I don't know.
Let me know if you're getting rid of a wifli rival mech though, I'm after a long cage one!

Was going to make a foldable breakaway case, but have actually bought one of these folding bike bags (sorry for amazon link…) to take my outback breakaway to Spain next week. Test packing it now, and it easily fits my XL frame and 700x43 tires fully inflated, so a touch roomier than the standard breakaway case, but pretty close dimensions wise.
I’ll stick some cardboard down the sides at either end to protect for the flight.
It’s a little extra to carry obviously, but it rolls down pretty small and straps easily onto the outside of my saddlebag. I’ll need to get on a train in Spain that doesn’t accept non folded bikes, so I’ll be able to break the bike down for that trip too. Might be useful for any other breakaway owners doing A-B tours abroad, saves sourcing a cardboard bike box abroad -
Looking good 👍🏻
Mounting it in the lower position on the underside of the bars might help give more room for hands, if you hadn’t already tried that
