I've been scanning all of mine with a canoscan 9000f, its a flatbed so not too compact, but it can do 35mm and 120 and wasn't too expensive as far as I can remember
I've just been using mac image capture software to get everything onto my machine as the software that came with it is a bit clunky, but that does have more control than the mac utility, but I have been considering a third party bit of software like vuescan so I can handle things in a more raw format
If anyone has any recommendations on that front I'd be really grateful

Why can't god-botherers spell?
It could be that my Dad was right in one of the few (I believe) profound things he said: 'religion is for people too stupid to understand science or politics'.
god botherers sounds bit like people poking god with a stick saying "do some magic!" rather than christians
stupid people is stupid regardless of religion

What labs do people in London use for developing? My mate had a bad time with The Darkroom and is looking for somewhere else.
Since I got the medium format camera I've been taking everything to rapid eye in shoreditch
Nice people, they seem like they know what they're doing and have a tendency to give random discounts

If it gets held its worth calling parcel force as soon as it clears.
When I got my pentax 645 from japan it cost me about £70 (got valued at about £200) in customs charges, but I'd been tracking it online so as soon as they'd charged parcel force and paid over the phone rather than wait for them to send me a letter saying I'd been charged.
It meant I got it a few days sooner, which was perfect because I'm a child that can't wait for things

I think it was mentioned on here a while ago that xp2 at least, and probably other films can benefit for a little over exposure, which results in a reduction in contrast.
I've been looking into up/down rating my film and I just wanted to make sure I fully understand the process.
I was hoping someone might be able to answer a couple of questions I have, I've been doing a little research but have not ended up more confused.
Firstly is it correct that if I'm exposing something that is ISO 400 as if it was 200 will be downrating the film, and so this will need to be pulled in the lab and if I under expose it will need to be pushed in the lab.
OR
Do I up/down rate the film as I choose while shooting and develop as normal? My only concern there being that I am then scanning at home rather than doing a traditional print and so do not have the same flexibility
Bought myself a pack of Ektar 100 as I fancied trying something different from Portra,
I haven't shot any yet but from looking around it looks like I'm going to get very pink skintones with it if I shoot te kind of stuff i usually like to, but that this is reduced by not shooting in direct sunlight
any suggestions of how to get the best out of it?
