Really? I think it's a bit much. I mean, I know he won't serve the whole thing, but given the state of our prisons and, more importantly, the state of our CPS, I think I'd rather he did a community sentence and the money spent on incaceration went on something more productive. I think in this case a criminal record is probably a fairly hefty deterrent.
I'm going to see if I can find out why he got such a weighty sentence.Personally, when you see drivers getting off for killing people, I'm not going to be too upset for the one person whose sentance goes some way of re-addressing this imbalance.
Equally, take away the car and cyclist aspect, transfer it too a nightclub and does the sentence look too extreme?
I also suspect he may have been known and that that has reflected the sentencing.

Combination of:
- adjusting to a new team,
- more competitive sprinters around,
- dual leadership in pro team with mixed objectives,
- GB riders prioritising track over road,
- pressure to repeat last years form
Mean I think Cav is set for a tough year. If he comes away with meaningful results he will have overcome a lot.
Have to agree to a degree. Really don't see how SKY can support both Cav and Wiggins at the tour. Brailsford was interviewed on the BBC earlier talking about how the team pusuiters have to commit to that and not the road because if you try and do both (road and track) you spread yourself too thin, yet that seems to be exactly what he wants to do with SKY.
On the subject of SKY, good win for Wiggins over Tony Martin today, granted it's early days but stil a good scalp to get.
- adjusting to a new team,
-
Just for a brief clarifying point: I presume at H.H for racing purposes a BC Sliver membership is adequate + day race licences and If we want skinsuits for march from sprint racing, ordering around now (given the four week timing) is reasonable?
I could be wrong but I'm sure he has some in stock.
Slight tangent, but on the subject of kit, the winter bib tights are some of the best I've owned in 20 odd years of riding and way cheaper than most brands.

Don't panic. Half a marathon is achievable just from general good fitness. Full marathon is the potential health destroyer.
This. I did my first half last weekend. Had the idea that entering the Marrakech marathon would keep me training through the winter. The reality, virtually nothing on the bike or running since the 3 peaks in September. I think I ran 5 or 6 times this year. One of 90 minutes, 1 of an hour and the others were all around 30 minutes. I got round comfortably in 2 hours. It's easily do able if you are reasonably fit.
The full marathon comment worries me, got my first one in July. Probably need to take that a little more serious.
Sparky, with regards to getting fit enough to run one in 9 months. Piece of piss. You could easily get fit enough in 9 weeks in my opinion. It's not that big an ask physically.

well usually we average at around 19, so not far off, so i guess its not really worthy of an 'only'...
we're the cool people that break away from the 'fast' group. Not fully understanding the use of the terms cool or fast here.
Winning races is cool, "winning" the sprint to the cafe on a club run is arguably not.

Ugly bikes.. Ugly team names.. not content with radioshack nissan trek?
We now have Garmin barracuda..
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/garmin-cervelo-becomes-garmin-barracuda
Always liked garmon, but reading between the lines they told both Hammond and Lloyd they would be resigned and then left them high and dry which I know is the way of the sport but still sucks.

wrong, i crashed the only time i forgot one, which goes to show that you can crash any time, so dont think its not going to happen to you, i shared my story and the facts.
You crashed primarily because you were riding like a dick. A helmet had zero bearing on the way you ride.
What difference would wearing a helmet have made? You would have still crashed. You wuld still have had no head injury (though you could have bored us non-believers with bullshit that it had saved your life) so how the hell should that make me think I need to wear a helmet.

Year started off well, I'd got the fittest I'd been in some years in 2010 and had held the fitness well. February I was hit from behind by an idiot that hadn;t seen me - damaged my back. lost my mojo and ultimately lost a lot of fitness and took a few months to get back on track.
1st june, I started a job in Hatfield and as I was still in Hackney and my g/f lived in Stevenage it's not hard to work out that my mileage went through the roof. Annoyingly although I was doing plenty of miles, I was rarely getting in any long rides. 2010 I was regularly doing 50 mile rides after work and a few century rides, 2011 I think I only did a handful of rides over 50 miles.
I raced again, no specific training saw my comfortable in the B cats at Welwyn and a few respectable 10 mile tt's. I also did the 3Peaks cyclo-x. With hindsight I suspect I'd come down with a bug before it. in Auguat I was flying both running and cycling but come raceday I really struggled, it has taken me 3 months to feel right again so something wasn;t right.
I've done lots more off roading since moving out of London, the g/f loves mountainbiking and there are plenty of trails out here. Watching my g/f compete in triathlons and just riding with here has undoubtedly been the highlight of this year.

If you can do a sub 6 hour 100 and a 28 minute training 10 on 72" you will easily be capable of 26 minute 10, realistically once you get used to pace judgement you should be looking at 24 minutes as a target.
I only rode a few 10's this year, fastest was a 27 (within 2 1/2 minutes of the winner on a crap course where few riders beat 24 minutes) with no aero kit and a 90inch gear. I've never averaged 19mph at Regent's s on that basis you have nothing to worry about.

Couple in lots of assos and on somewhat expensive looking titanium road bikes on Camden Road yesterday. Noticable because one of them was wearing a full face DH helmet...
