Looks like the debate is about to start in Oz

Does anyone know the name of the study that was done that said drivers act with more caution when they see a rider without a glorified chilly bin on their head, moreso if said rider is female.

The safety of others is not plain stupid, but that safety needs to be proven.
Sorry, didn't explain myself that well, what I find stupid is jumping on the internet and ranting to people that have already made up their minds on the subject.
Enforcing seat belt usage saves a lot of lives and healthcare costs etc, as it is proven to be a good safety measure. Just as helmets on motorcycles saves lives.
Shoud drivers have a choice not to wear seatbelts? I think the choice aspect gets weaker when the evidence backs up the enforcement. At this stage it doesn't...
No arguements here.

didn't you crash whilst doing some fucktarded manoeuvre?
i think it's fucking creepy the unhealthy interest you have in the safety of people you don't know.
I think it's just plain stupid, all it's going to do is alienate people.
As has been mentioned earlier, let people do whatever the fuck they want (helmetwise).

apologies for posting this in 2 threads (it's not 29er specific either) but most of the mtb people seem to read this thread.
I have a quick suspension question
I put a cable tie on the top part of the forks then did a wheelie and slammed the front of the bike down (as close as I can get to a jump/dh trail in my garden. The cable tie is now about 15mm from the fork crown, is this a bit close for comfort? I don't want to bottom out on them.
You actually want to use all of your suspension available, there is no point in having it and not using it.
By the top part of the fork I assume you mean the stanchion, 15mm seems alot of travel that's not bring used, depending on the fork model maybe it's a relatively easy fix with a shock pump and 5 mins of your time.

Funny reading the above comments about upgrading the Bowery, started out stock, then ended up pretty much with everything bar the cranks replaced.
Then morphed into the second one, in the quest for something not seen around as much.
The bowery is still in the family though, as it now belongs to the misses, so in a different guise again. It was and still is a good bike, it was my first foray into riding fixed and I reckon you can't go to far wrong with them, I even ended up with a Plug as well and the difference between the two is like chalk and cheese.

^ front wheel on that looks like it would taco at the thought of a drop off, and I'm pretty sure its not a C/Bros jobby.
That Specialized number looks pretty good. Those brakes look like Shimano M485s, there was a recall on them, nothing to serious, just seals from memory, but I'd still be checking they had been done.

Thanks DJ and BB, exactly what I was after.
Correct, it'll never happen.
My first abuse from DJ as well, all I need now is a merge by Hippy and a pea roast from Pistanator and I've got the trifecta.
