Its a good point.. I would go machined or a mixed pair. Some riders go 40mm rear and 30mm machined front....JIm

If the wheel is built on centre can just add a small washer either side. TBH you could just tighten.

He can wear his stripes through the middle as a reigning champ when he is riding in the same discipline and on his cuffs whatever and whenever..

Mine was back in 85 so way back....
