Not sure why speedway riders favour triple triangles so much, but I know quite a few Neil Orrell frames have been used for speedway too. Presumably more oop north though as he's Manchester based.
Triples started to get popular in the nineties really with Ace making them..prior to that mainly standard diamond. The modern frames have gone back to standards as the materials are better now.

Hi
Is there anyone in the South London are that might be interested in Cycle Speedway as i used to race and have been to the track in Garrat Lane and it wouldn't take a lot to get it in order.
By the way the bikes above I think were made by Mike Goff Ace Cycles.
He made the one I now use to get about on.
Most of the triple traingle frames were built by Mike "Baugh" of Ace Cycles. The others used to be hand built 531 Archies. Now the vast majority are Archies aluminium frames which are nice. In addition there is a lot of MTB convert stuff knocking about, which changes the gearing with the smaller wheels. Archie's run on 26x13/8.. I think the Pinkerton was built for Lee aris and i have one very much the same...
Hey RPM if you lads fancy a go round Newport anytime let me know and i will happily set up a session...Legro and Povey have shown interest.
Heres one i prepared earlier...;-)
