Mine was clicking when I bent the axle, it bent slightly because I rode it around with a bit of play in it. I failed to study the finer points of tightening up coaster brakes.
Usually though, creaking or clicking will be down to lack of grease, so repack it full of grease, I tend to regrease the my hub if it gets too hot from over use.

Thanks to Varno for the wheels, and advice from the old Peugout thread on where to get a seatpost that fits the stupid french frame. Also got a Giant EXT adjustable stem, it splits in two so acts a bit like a face off. Also, it had yellow on it.
Went along to a local cycle club meeting at a 400m track ( I think it was an athletics track) for a floodlit training session they do on mondays. Some confused looking glances to begin with then some sprinting and pack riding where they all ride at 17mph and you have to sprint ahead, catch up and join the back of the pack again.
Going to go again next week, kept up fine, didn't die, nice blokes.I think it highlighted a need to put some drops on, I have some ITM Anatomica 44 bars but no brake levers other than some gold eighties dia-compe jobbies with a double action lever so you can use them from the top of the bars.

Seatpost is from decathlon, original wasnt quite long enough.
its not exactly the right size, but come with a shim, that if you cut in half fits pretty well.
heres the one
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/l330-basic-diam-23-4-25-27-2-35412401/
pretty cheap and looks nice (IMO)I'd just like to add, I did go and buy this as it was only a tenner, much appreciated ( I'm sure decathlon has been mentioned as supplying smaller seatposts elswhere too).
The seatpost itself is good and solid, looks much better than what I had (older three piece seat clamp and very short post), however the seatpost is slightly too small, as you mentioned.
The smaller of the two shims was far too thick to get the post fitted into my 80's HLE frame, not sure if seat tube sizes vary within the Peugeot family throughout the years? Anyway, I cut a coke can into a flat sheet, and made a shim from one wrap of that around the post, which fits perfectly.
Hope this helps if anyone else has any trouble.
Cheersedit: 103 frames should have 23.4mm seatposts, which matches the decathlon with no shim, I assumed HLE 'mangalloy' was the same as 103, so I cant figure out why my seat tube size lies somewhere between that and the 26.4mm of frames like the PX-10, the closest match seems to be the '78> Versailles, which is 23.8mm
So maybe all HLE frames are 23.8mm in which case this seatpost will need a .4mm shim, which it isn't supplied with. -
Just listened to the audio book of World war Z after reading it, as I kind of thought voice acting for the contributors in the book from various nationalities would flesh out the book a bit, you know, bitter russian soldier, bitter american soldier, etc...
It's a little hammy. However, the noise that happens during the chapter changes is truly terrifying, it sums up the book in 2 seconds, kind of like a nuclear winter whoooooooooooo noise, with the added distant threat of a horde of (Romero/Fulci style) zombies on the horiozon. -

Spin to win... It will improve your cadence and fitness. Otherwise why not just ride a geared bike if it's 20 straight country miles?
I just find it's more fun fixed, easier to chuck it about, easier to maintain speed (for me), feels like it's doing more good in terrms of fitness. Cadence is giong up over the months etc..
Thanks for the answer.

53 16? Really? For the track maybe but surely not around town. A novice who can't even skid will struggle to push that gear around. Do you like walking up hills? Or perhaps just walking in general? A mix of 47/48 with 17/18/19 will have you skidding into oncoming traffic in no time. I think the op is trolling and having a laugh.
An explanation.
I ride along an ex-railway line every day, about 20 miles to the end and back. I like to do this on the gearing I'm using as I can do it faster. I live in the cotswolds, small hills are no problem.
I started riding on this gearing about 9 months ago as it was similar to the highest gear on my road bike. I always had a brake and never bothered to learn to stop without braking.
That was perhaps a bad choice, but why am I even explaining myself, the question has been answered.
Thanks. -
you gearing is way too high. try 48x 19 - it makes all the difference in the world.
You are at around 90 gi (gear inches) at the moment, you'll destroy your knees and be unable to control your bike. If you went 53x20 (thus keeping your big ring), it would go down to around 70 which is what a lot of people ride.
Here play with this http://software.bareknucklebrigade.com/
Beyond all that don't get too caught up in the 'look' of your bike - you can still use a break on an unmachined rim, it just won't be as effective.
Good luck and be careful!
Thanks.

Dancing James - I have a brake and use it
Fucking read
I had already said that gear ratio makes a difference but the skill needs to be learned.
Lower gearing and use a brake or expect no sympathy.
People with a brain learn to skid whilst still having a brake. Most intelligent people still keep a brake.
You sound like a dangerous idiot novice.
So I would be learning to skid whilst having a brake, I haven't mentioned removing said brake, and it will still work on the rim of the wheel I am getting. Thanks for the advice.

Using the search also helps.
Yeah. I know the priciples involved, I'm wondering if it should be possible with any gearing.
Dancing James - I have a brake and use it, I want the paint on my new rim to last a little while.

I'm going to concur with rab, I have two charge spoons and a selle turbo from new, and they are on pat comfort wise, although you would think the turbo would be nice from the look of it. For some bizarre reason my dark-grey (orange stitching) spoon is noticably more comy than the brown mock leather one. I have no idea, it just is.
Anyway, I do 16-20 miles a day on the spoon and I can still walk at the end of the week. -
I would take it for £250 posted if nobody else is? Wouldn't mind seeing some photo's first.
