Hey, why not paint it green to add £700 to the value....

I thought I would vent a bit of rage. I always assumed late 70's and 80's Peugeots (not including 'proper' lugged frames) were a budget option, I mean, I have three carbolite/mangalloy and not one of them cost over £20 to buy as a complete bike, one was free.
Just checking ebay for a cleaner less scratched frame to port my components across onto and to my surprise everyone is going mad for base spec 103 carbolites.
What have I missed? -

I found the best starting point was to buy a flip-flop hub, built into a rim if possible. This avoids having to mess about converting your existing wheel. You can aim for £50-£100 for that. Then just make sure your BB is tight, re-grease it if you don't know what condition it's in, replace the bearings if they are dump. Apart from that, just get bits and pieces you like the look of. I started with an 80's Peugeot and it was all ebay parts.

I've ordered some Easton bullhorn bars, I thought I could put a Cane Creek lever on them. You are correct about the Weimann levers, they where on the white drop bars that now live on the white Peugeot, so I guess they would be totally wrong for the riser bars. I wouldn't really be riding with the current set up. I don't know about straps, I like the look of the hold fast ones, if they would be compatible with DMR V8s?

I'll remove it when you find £700 worth of parts on it.
