It's unique to Dura Ace Cranks and other high end Jap cranks of that period, as mentioned above. Most cranks will fit on most tapers but will always be a compromise if they're not made for the job and you'll have to choose a spindle length to acheive a correct chainline.
Put a small hole crank on a large taper and it will stretch it. Large hole crank on small taper and you risk them bottoming out on the spindle and they'll keep coming loose. Then your cranks are fucked.See here: http://sheldonbrown.com/bbtaper.html

Close your eyes Comrade Fixie. Breath in that dark, sooty, smog filled air and imagine, just imagine for a moment that your lungs are filling with cool, clear, ozone rich air. Listen carefully and you will hear the gentle, cyclical crashing of waves against the sand. Feel your mind and body relax as it begins to wash away the stresses and strains of everyday modern life, but watch out for seagulls shitting on your ice-cream from a great height...
I believe you will find this tranquil space somewhere between Datchworth and Knebworth. -

Standard road ones go for about 80gbp in the UK and the NJS ones carry a 30+gbp hipster tax (see tokyo fixed).
I hope I haven't pissed on your thread Dandy, that really wasn't my intention. This is still probably the finest 1" threaded headset you can buy today this side of a King, and it's so much more attractive than a Record.
Bump-bump -
They certainly were up to about 12 months ago when I looked into getting one. I read somewhere that Shimano continued to make them so they could still offer an NJS certified threaded headset and also so they could have at least 1 in their product range for the retro market. Oh, and also because they were soooo damn good. Chain Reaction's site says they have more arriving beginning of April.

I had a go at this one (C330), but in orange. Good times.
My girlfriend's dad has one of these. It's his pride and joy. I think he was on the waiting list for about 15 years or something before he finally got one and he still parks it in a place so that everyone in the village who hasn't got one can see - right next to the Fiat 126 and FSO.
