Beware HGV drivers who only travel short distances - they have had no training whatsoever..

Wondering about things takes up such a lot of energy don't you find?... If you buy a copy of the Highway Code for £1.99 you would actually know.. Admittedly the Code seems to be mere suggestion but it's better than nothing. You shouldn't really be on the road without one.
I love that drivers 'even hesitate' in your area! You obviously don't live in south London where they drive straight through.

I felt this should be here as well as in the News thread...
The more I read it the more enraged I become. I have complained here: SWPerformanceManagement@london-fire.gov.uk and here: http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/ComplaintsProcedure.asp
Wishing fortitude to the poor cyclist, who only stopped off to do a bit of shopping. I hope he come to terms with his injuries. I also hope he receives justice.. (unlikely.)

Very glad to see William Hanlon hasn't been forgotten.. I don't know if anyone else has properly delved into this one... a true scandal.

I didn't attend... Instead, I wrote a very long email to my MP re the debate, stating that in my opinion, to lure the populace onto bikes with zero protection in law is tantamount to corporate manslaughter. I cited examples of very experienced cyclists who had not managed to survive and who had received no justice. I included the cases in his own constituency where two drivers who caused the deaths of cyclists through recklessness were not even arrested. I also informed him of the incident which is most exercising me at the moment: http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/bromley/10516263.Catford_man_accused_of_hitting_Chislehurst_cyclist_and_driving_away_not_guilty_of_two_charges/
I would be much happier if the debate had been about MPs, magistrates, judges and CPS and Sentencing Council staff having to cycle to work.

Stephen Hammond's latest wheeze, to be implemented this autumn following consultation. I don't know who he'll be consulting with - probably not Chris Boardman:

If any of you perused the actual Sentencing Guidelines, you would go immediately to Homebase (on foot) and purchase a set of wall mounted bicycle hooks from Homebase and thence go into a decline like wot I have......
I will not cycle again until every member of the CPS and the Sentencing Council - and their children, are forced to cycle around E&C, Holland Park roundabout and Vauxhall Cross ten times.

This news is much appreciated... Well done to Thames Valley police, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and the jury. Many thanks adroit.
I await the sentencing on 30th August with less trepidation than usual. ".how am I going to live with this?" Would that be your first reaction upon killing someone? She also seemed to be shifting the blame onto her children. Despicable beyond words.
My thoughts are with Mr Hilson's wife and children. x

I'm sorry skydancer, I really don't understand this sentiment.. The fact that drivers don't understand the consequences of their actions shows a complete lack of imagination. Therefore why would they have a fear of hurting someone? They just want to get from A to B and sod everyone else. Maybe only type B drivers go on your sessions.
Condolences once again to Mrs Dorling. A very great lady,.

Thank you for the for the follow-up Adroit and sorry for your distress.. My faith in the police and the CPS has been revived by your news.. much respect to them.
I am ashamed to say that I did not attend a local case which I'd been following, the outcome of which was catastrophic. I feel my appeal will be weakened by my non-attendance. I will follow your example next time for sure.

Very well said twitch...

The government wants to re-classify the craft industry as non-creative..... Mayhaps will carve a quotation from Seneca on a piece of riven Welsh slate and chuck it through D C's window.
