No really good pics but I did Bala tri last weekend which was fantastic, well worth a trip or a weekend away in north wales for next year.
Perfect swim in a lovely lake, good safety cover, cool clean water, great views when you took a breath! Started in 4 waves to spread us out nicely.
Bike was rolling not flat but fast, good on a tt bike, totally closed out and back course, again lovely views.
Run was then out and back on the closed road and pavement. Again nice views, good support at the turn in a campsite.
Wish I hadn’t rushed back and had stayed around for a paddle board and swim after. -

Summer holiday advice needed for next year- looking for a family holiday where me and the kids can ride Mtb- some blue, some green and a bit of harder stuff, uplift or lifts.
Nice pool, lakes, running trails and quiet road riding.
Drive from uk ferries.
Not bothered about night life, restaurants as long as we can get a pizza and there’s a shop.
Never been to alps or anywhere like that so keen to find the right place without lots of drama! -

I think it’s a fantastic idea and had thought of doing similar, but lacked the funds!
Watch out for access rights to fields, any weird limits on how many times you can access the field, AONB obviously, and I’d avoid being overlooked by houses.
Lot of work to maintain a field but some can be outsourced quite cheaply. As some have said, avoiding your stuff getting pinched is the main job! -

Race recommendations for next year needed please! Was going to do Bolton 70.3 but it’s moved dates so we’ll be on holiday.
Done lakesman this year, not desperate to go back straight away.
Half iron/70.3, safe or even closed roads, 3hr max drive from Manchester or short flight. What am I missing? I’m uninspired so far!

I also did national relays the week before Bala which was fun, chaos, fast bike and run, chaotic swim due to last minute change to a tiny pond!
Would do again, would avoid drinking rum the night before.
Sadly a lad from our neighbour club Stockport tri died of a heart attack soon after being pulled out of the water. RIP. Apparently he hugged his team mate and smiled as he ran into the water so that’s not the worst way to go in my book and apparently the incident was well dealt with by the rescue boats, medics etc so hopefully all those involved weren’t too shaken. That aside I’d highly
Recommend this event as long as you aren’t in the men’s 40-50 open category
