I would say most people's comments that have played the Bristol courts are spot on, I would like to emphasise how good the courts are: Large courts = fast games, boarded shoulder high = safe, toilets, showers. Good spectating area. It is a little slippy when wet but not that bad. It's a good balance and yes agreeing with Neil, the bar has been raised in standards and expectations of surface. Remember, nowhere is perfect but I reckon Bristol is about as good as it gets.
I think this week the Bristol group should get heads together and agree on whether we should host the UK Champs, the Euros not really feasible on 2 courts but we may be happy to host if no one else bids.

My friend Lisa will be living in London on a part-time basis and will be bringing her narrowboat from Bristol to live on and is looking for a house-boat mate for the duration. I'm putting this into the Polo sub-forum so that I can pass on details of somone in London I know (or somone closely related and trustworthy) and not some random forum user. If you can PM the following information as well and I will then pass on her email address. Please state how many days per week you would like to stay on the boat and the approximate dates starting and ending.
Serious enquries only please.
From Lisa:
"*I’m looking for someone who would be interested to share/ live on a boat in London with me, anything from 1 to 7 days a week, I need someone who will help occupy the boat because I’m not there all the time.
It's very cheap eg contribution to fuel and repairs only, which depends on how much you use or break, but then it's a narrow boat with all the lovely discomforts for a floating home with no permanent mooring, you might have seen the boats pegged in on the Grand Union Canal.* *
It is built to live on with a full kitchen, bath room/shower, two beds in separate rooms, electricity, central heating and eventually a stove too. There is room for bikes inside or they can be locked to the roof.* *
Ralph's Follie (that is the boat) will be there for about 5 months from now, I will use the boat 2-3 nights a week most weeks during this time and will spend some time on weekends there too.* *
The follie will have no permanent mooring so the person living on it will have to move/drive it if needed, the upside of this is that it can stay anywhere in north London on Grand Union (Paddington, Kingscross, Angle etc) or in the north east along the Lea Valley. No previous driving experience required, takes only 5 minutes to learn. But living on a boat means getting your hands dirty or into the water of the canal and tools out every now and then ...* "

If you are looking for a single speed speed frame (135mm rear spacing) or a project involving some hub gears get yer peepers round this.
I had my previous Pompetamine replaced under warranty, my new frame being different altogether, this replacement is surplus to requirements and is therefore up for sale.
It's completely unused of course as you can see from the pics, the size is 'Large', check here for dimesions, sizing and price guide.
Looking for £70 including postage, I'm in Bristol if you want to pick up and save a tenner.

Hi London poloistas
This Sunday we are having a polo fun day/get-together/training at our brilliant new court, currently we have 5G (Neil/Chan/Emyr), Cambridge (Josh M/Luca/French Max) and Hacked Off (Rich/Ady/Andre) agreed to come along. We are looking to invite 1 -2 teams from London of experienced players to join us for the day and play some competitive, fun games with a view to getting the most out of a polo session. We will probably have a round-robin with a final depending on number of teams and time available.
I have currently booked the court from 11am until 3pm at a cost of £15 per hour, for each extra team we can rent the court for another hour. The cost per person will be between £5 and £10 per hour (£7 - £8 realistically).
Apologies for the short notice, I understand there is a polo shin-dig in London this weekend so this will limit willingness but it's worth a try.
Danwentskiing from Birmingham is wanting to play also but doesn't have a team so contact him if you want to team up.
Court: St Pauls Academy Community Sports
Map- Large court
- Shoulder high boards
- Smooth surface
- 91.5cm high metal goals with nets
- Corner boards
Cheers all.

I bought this frame and fork as a complete bike around 6 - 7 years ago in the Cycle to Work Scheme, i've since bought another Litespeed Ti frame in replacement and this one has been doing nothing for around 3 years.
I've done quite a few thousand miles on this one: commuting and sportives mostly, the condition apart from some of the decals is perfect: no dents or dings, thread on BB and hanger is perfect, hanger is straight. The only signs of use are light decal damage and some polishing due to a battery mount around the head tube.
Forks: Easton EC70 carbon with aluminium steerer.
I'm selling the frame and fork together (excluding headset due to missing crown) or separately. My intention will be to bring the frameset to London next weekend to the Halloween Polo tournament in Harper Road, Southwark. I live in Bristol so it can't be viewed beforehand unless you live in or are willing to travel to Bristol . If i'm unsuccessful in selling on that day to anyone interested I will open up the opportunity to the rest of the UK for a postage cost of around £20.
Frame only - £350
Fork only - £50
Combo - £400Rather than me tell you about the frame i'll let you read the review, i'm afraid I can't find a sizing chart but the effective top tube length is 56cm:

So you agree that it should have been a ball turn over or disallowed goal? That's how I see it. It wasn't severe but it won them the game at 5 goals to 3, if the goal wasn't scored then I probably would have let it go to keep the game flowing but a goal scored I would call a non goal and reset to l'Equipe.

WHBPC 2012 - final day - Moteur Fuckers VS L'équipe on Vimeo
at 19:10 the Moteur Fuckers guy appears to foul Manu by t-boning his front wheel, retains possession while Manu taps out and scores the winning goal. Would you have called this?

going back to goal size, in Bristol we are going to be making some steel goals falling in line with what most scenes are using in the UK (180cm x 80cm on cross bar). Looking at the previous discussion it appears inconclusive whether anything will change for next season and what those changes are. Should we hold fire on construction for now?
Secondly we will be using the square poles for ease of construction and cost, someone mentioned rebounds might be weird, any comments on this?

OK so I wrecked my Adidas Cyclones in the wash, my Spesh MTB shoes are worn out and i've wrecked the ratchets - time for new shoes!!
So i'm looking for suggestions, I don't want dedicated MTB shoes as I want these to be practical walking around. I really liked my Adidas Cyclone shoes but the now discontinued which is a shame, they were stiff, fine to walk around in and easy to take on and off. So i'm looking for something similar but don't want to replicate the golfy look.
Also I would consider making some high-top shoes from Vans or similar, is there another thread on this?
Interested to hear people's recommendations. Cheers.

I'm very much in favour of experimenting more with the crease rule and experimenting with it's size. I agree with Nik in that it's unfair that offensive players can move into the crease and the defensive have to move out due to the time limit. My opinion is if an offensive player moves into the crease then other defensive players can do this also and not be constained to a time limit. If the offensive don't score a goal in this instance and they move out of the crease then the defensive have to move away also, this is where the time limit rule inside the crease should apply.
Increasing the goal size will of course make scoring goals easier and double/triple goalies less effective but it won't improve the experience of the game from a playing or spectating point of view. Having the crease rule will improve the flow of the game as all players except the goalie will be moving around at all times (unless an offensive player enters the crease).
