Thanks for those comments Mr SIMPSON. In September last year I jumpped into the renovation a bit quick and went a bit mad on ebay buying parts I thought I wanted on the finished bike. However, 10 months on and a lot of research later I have realised my mistakes and finally got the bike looking how I really want it to look and to a rideable state. As my first ever restoration I am really pleased with how it looks and rides (anyone from Reading looking for an unused set of baby blue deep V singlespeed wheels or a blue San Marco saddle as they will be on Ebay soon?)
The wheels will change again when I can get some more money to buy a nice set and so will the bottom bracket but as the sun is out I'm gonna get on it and ride it.
Thanks to Unimet painters in Reading, Tony from Retro Cycles in Ascot and anyone who sold me parts.
Please no comments on the wall paper!

This is a mock up of what I intend to do to my dad's 1960s Falcon San Remo. The frame and forks are currently stripped and on route to be rechromed but I intend to restore the bike to its original colours once I get it back. While the frame is away, I've got some cleaning to do to the old components it had on it but I am pleased with how the new San Marco saddle and matching handlebar grips are going to look with the ebay wheels I bought.

London to Prague! nice...
How was it?
Welcome!
Thanks for the Welcome.
The ride was excellent and took 8-9 days. We cycled from London to Harwich then took a ferry overnight to Esjburg in Denmark. Headed south through Denmark and into Germany where we picked up the Rhine and followed it to Dresden. The whole route was pretty flat, which was good as we carried our tents and kit, and the only real climbs were as we crossed the Czech Boarder before cycling down to Prague. I probably could have done with some slicks and done away with the suspension forks, but keeping them meant that I could go offroad at times. There was an excellent Beer festival in Prague when we finished and I would reccomend the route to anyone.

Comment if you like on the rust spots and random collection of components my dad put on the bike about 10 years ago, and look out for the same bike once I have stripped it, cleaned it up and put it back on the road.
Say hi if you see me around Reading.

Vintage Falcons are great
I have just spent the last 10 months renovating my dad's 1960s Falcon San Remo. I have always loved it, but It lay rusting and unloved in his shed for years and it needed a lot of work. I took plenty of photos of the old hand painted decals then stripped it, had it rechromed and then resprayed. I made my own replacement decals from the photos I took and then had it clearcoated. Using parts I bought from ebay I then converted it to a singlespeed and love the result.
