Thanks Kev - excellent day of polo on a good court surface and facilities. The 'condensed' format and 15 minute matches added a new dynamic in the heat - managing energy levels sorted the wheat and we were chaffed come the final game! Predators clearly benefitted from the extra game time though being down and out after 10 minutes in several of their matches, but coming back for the wins.
Watching and playing Mondial is always a treat, irrespective of the result. As one of only two teams to put 2+ goals passed them, we did manage to leave with something to tell the grandchildren! The belligerent ThemApples hung in there against the relentless torrent of attacks making for compelling sporting finale.
Props to Westway also for a great showing in their backyard.
Not sure if there was an MVP award/vote - Mya's performance (and bloody knee) was pretty outstanding IMHO.
Thanks to teamies Joe and Andy for a much improved showing in our second tournament together as Cross Hares.
Went to Herne Hill Veldodrome for the first time on Sunday - an atmospheric venue crying out for a balearic-ly-chilled tournament someday. Got to meet and hang with the legendary 'super fun' Joe TS for the first time too... :)
Thx LDN!

Thx both.
Are teams that played at some point in EHBPC 14 but not in the finals day top 25 rankings therefore 'unranked' for the purposes of WHBPC 14? If some of the top european 16 and/or remaining 8 do not take up their slots, will the yet-to-be-registered 'open' teams be drafted into the main tournament on that first-come basis?

Have booked time off/accommodation on a two day basis already, hence still hoping for two days to prevail. Maybe as a compromise we can get commitment from other local teams/combos to play a fresh mini-tourney on the Sunday to get use out of the booked court/give more court time/value for committed non-LDN players??

Really fun two days - got some love back for polo after a bit of a break. Format added to the positive vibe - apart from seeing Barrymore's Boys on repeat...! ;-) Everyone had something to play for throughout the day and the Reet final(s) trumped the Champion final for lolz and drama. Great to see Hull and Grantham stepping up and props to MVPs including Lizzie and Killah Joe. Thx for the invite to play for the Flowery T's from Em and John - we had a fair run to third. Bring back the National Series in 2015 purleez...

Would the association be defining the core activity, its remit, its spirit and its goals etc. in a clear manner from the outset?
Would the association be mandated by a newly invoked membership ie. those that wish to work/play under the above auspices would be considered stakeholders/voters?
What thresholds/numbers might define a national mandate?
Would there be an annual membership or some kind of refresh?
Would representatives need to consider/represent the views of those who do not necessarily agree to the remit of the association/may not consider themselves members?

Thank you Bristol for making the UK Champs happen.
Going forward, a fledgling UKHBPA needs to get a grip on longer term tournament planning ASAP and be able to provide smaller/less prepared scenes with enough support and resources to encourage the development of a robust UK polo calendar for 2015.
There's still something a tad unreliable about finals formatting with regard to bringing a tournament to a fitting climax. Although court conditions undoubtedly played a part, it seemed a strangely subdued ending IMHO. Maybe the lack of engagement from the spectator point of view came from, as has been said, the lack of tension through the unlimited goals format? Trying to manufacture 40 minutes + of the best polo at the end of a very long day seems a big ask for players and spectators alike.

And when it has been decided on allocating these 4/5 spots over the coming weekend are you then setting a date prior to the qualifier (for the remaining spots), by which the top four/five have to confirm they are actually going/able to go? Hypothetically, if the fourth slot after this weekend cannot/does not go then the fifth place team should not be at the qualifiers etc etc.
Teams and players should register nationally at the start of each polo year to declare their intent/availability for annual EHBPC/WHBPC qualification IMHO. That way tournament organisers have the opportunity to try and avoid matches that at best have no bearing on qualification and at worst slew results. Similarly this voluntary register would give a UK organising body the opportunity to genuinely manage a wildcard allocation in a measured way - eg. when a highly ranked/credible team cannot make qualifiers/injuries etc.
