Walkmanman thanks for the offer to dig out your mystery rims - but I like this bike a lot and feel I owe it a matching rim. Guess this one of the few places in the world where you can say something like that and not be taken for a complete wally.

I think some Wolbers were branded Super Champion. Is it 36-hole? Anyway, yes, interested in any decent 36-hole rim if you are happy to cut out the spokes. Let me know what you have, though no hurry as I'm away this coming week. Thanks.

Could be, unless it is another wheel full of ancient galvanised spokes! What's the hub and does it take an old-school 5-speed block?

Just pringled my rear wheel -- front is a Wolber Gentleman and a match would be nice.
Must be in good enough condition to make a re-build worth the effort!

Pump pegs, lamp bracketI am 95%+ sure this is an FW Evans frameset, because the markings on the BB shell are almost identical to an Evans of the same period -- see the photo in the above album. The overall style suggests late fifties, early sixties, and It was probably brazed up for Simplex gears. The top tube is short for the period -- more of a racer than a tourer.
The paint is obviously atrocious, but the metal is in fine condition -- I can't find a single dent or ding (though such things don't show up well when the paint is a mess). There is no significant rust and the BB shell threads are in excellent order. It will look gorgeous with new paint, but it's too small for me so I can't really justify taking it any further.

That bargain Graham Weigh 531c now parted out by someone who can't remove a set of cranks. And it seems to have shrunk by an inch, too...
