The Lady had NOT run a red light. There is a fundamental flaw with the Fieldway cresent junction with where the trafic lights are placed on the Holloway Road and the delay they have..
i lived on fieldway crescent and your totally right. the crossing is a joke. the lights stop traffic about ten meters from the crossing cars speed up to make the lights at which point the cycle crossing lights go green. always an accident waiting to happen. (the rest of this thread may move away from what ive quoted above - ive only read page one) I always hated that crossing, even when i was on foot.

tropicalformica and friend cycling up to Euston Road from Covent Garden along the closed bit of road, good to bump into you!
good to see you as well, bike still looking good.
also if the bloke riding the white (late 90's i think) look through clerkenwell this morning is on here - you bike is awesome, and thanks for dragging my weary legs up a gear.
(rolls sade, new keo pedals, white frame with red look letters, carbon seat postbut dont think the rest was carbon but i may be mistaken as there was a black oblon left un painted on it)

Can anyone recommend Cycle shoes for under 40 quid please.
I have a Mountain bike and just changed my tyres to 1.3 inches.
I read the whole thread and saw some for 50 quid which may have to be what I need to go for.
I can only wear shoes without the clipless thing or straps because I have moutain bike pedals. Any ideas? Thanks
ebay....?
you'll get what you want for £20 or less, especially if you unsure why buy new ones?
I can vouch for it being fine (as long as your sensible - ie over 30 stars etc etc)My poggio's came from there.
And if you wanted update - i rode for the first time and thought - wow these are incred - but how comes people always fall off when their not used to them? - then i fell a few times and understood.
Think im used to it now, i disengage pretty frequently a times i see something i might have to stop for, when stopped bring non disengaged foot up to 12 o clock and can click in from that push to start of again, when light green, person crossed road etc.
i will probably disengage less when im completely comfortable.
Sometimes i do still worry a little, in crash situation would bike go flying with me? no probably force would fling me off pedals. And a crash is a crash, road bike following you through air not gonna do much more damage than cars already done.
nerves will also probably quell over time.
but will the enjoyment? - its horrendously good fun, seriously every time i set off and wrench the pedal back up for the extra push, or realise im in gears i could never have comfortably cycled in before I smile.
