Specialized Langster 2010, well looked after, only used for commuting. I have all the paper work, receipts etc. I will upload some pictures once I get home.
I have upgraded the chain, and given it a full service.
Hate to see it go, it's a lot of fun, but sadly too hilly here since I injured my ankle!
Please feel free to email if you have any questions etc.
I'm based in Swindon, local pick up preferred, or we can sort out a courier.

Hey guys, I jusst bought some Aliums as everyone seems to recommend them on here, but I need some shoes. I've settled on some Specialized BG Sport, but they are pretty expensive. I tried on a pair of 41s and they fit nicely, but I found some size 40s for £35, is there a big difference between these sizes? And do shoes tend to stretch a bit with wear?
Cheers,

Cheers for the advice, it went ok...ish.
I started off fine, then began picking up speed, and then more speed, bu was on top of it, then my feet slipped out of the toe clips (was doing 40mph by now!)! So I just lifted my feet and applied the break for the rest of the way down, hopped onto the kerb and stopped to get back into the clips, and the rest of the journey was ok.
Going to take a while to get used to this I think! Although I am borrowing a set of spd's and some shoes tomorrow (but the shoes are a bit big), we'll see how it goes!!

I just flipped the flop and did my first commute today on the fixed hub. Rode the SS for a week before attempting it. I have a 42:16, which is ~71GI, I have a pretty steep hill to get down (11%, not 6% as I previously thought!), and with a freewheel I was getting to 38mph, according to Rabbit that's 180rpm!
I was struggling earlier with anything above ~25mph which is 120rpm. Once you get used to spinning what kind of cadences can you achieve comfortably?
(I can't change the gear ratio really as I am only just getting up the hill in the morning!)
Also, it will be my first time going down it later today, any tips? On a much milder hill on the way here I was braking a lot to keep my speed down...
Thanks in advance,

I did ssearch, but searched for chain and stiff!! I've been using forums long enough to utfs! But it's no use if you don't put the right words in!
Apologies for yet another chain stiffness thread, my bad!

I just got my new Langster today and I was just checking it over before going for a ride, and turning the pedals seem pretty stiff. If I put the bike upside down and pedal backwards, the back wheel actually starts turning backwards a bit (on the free wheel hub). Is thi normal? I understand the chain will be somewhat stiffer as there is no derailleur to normalise the chain tension. Also the freewheel cog doesn't spin exactly straght, there is a slight wobble in it, is this something to worry about/fix?
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Buy some top-of-the-range, carbon soled, road shoes. The idea of scrapping them up, walking up hills, will keep you honest ;)
Lol yeah, sounds like a plan! Although with road tyres, I think I would have had to walk up that hill today, 100-150mm of snow everywhere, took a while cycling in today! Snow has also delayed my order by a couple of days -so much for paying the extra for priority shipping!!

I'm currently on a Specialised Tricross running a 70ish GI. Brimble Hill is a bit of a hassle near the top although I do come at it from the back route passed the Brown Jockey. A 67 should be more confortable for the daily slog and still allow a decent speed on the flats. If you're planning on riding out around the area on fixed or ss then I wouldn't advise going above 70 unless you're pretty tough, experienced and determined.
Are you working at Halcrow?
Well the langster comes with 42/16T, with 69GI, might be a bit tough. How much are cogs? Getting a 41T would bring the GI to 67.3, would that make much difference?
Yeah, I do! You too?

I know there's a similar post on here about the Trek but I was wondering if you guys thought the Langster was worth the extra £100. I can get the Trek Soho S 2009 for £300 from my lbs and a Langster 2010 from Evans for £400. Are the components and the overall bike worth the extra? I don't really know much about bikes, so any input appreciated,
Cheers,

Come to London, west drinks are convenient for you west country folks, more than welcome to try mine but I'm 173cm so about 5ft 7 and a bit ish and ride a 49 cm track and 52 road frame.
I might take you up on that! Where abouts are you? I'm 174cm, and that's 5' 8 3/4" lol. So maybe I need a 52cm? I tried one fit calculator and it came out as 54cm :s maybe I'm just strangely proportioned!
Now sold.
