Foot retention is always vital on a fixed, in my opinion. If you lose the pedals you're screwed. Also he only has one brake without any straps or clips, which is another Sparky no-no.
I can't speak for you guys in hilly country, but here in Hollands it's common to have only one brake (coaster). I'm riding ss with only a front brake and it's harder/better/more precise than any coaster I've ever had. Those weren't really bikes you'd get a lot of speed on though, but I still think only a front brake is doable.
(Although never tried,) I think riding brakeless, with or without footretention, is BS. -

Check out the GoPro camera's.
Bit more expensive, but well worth it.
Shoots up to 1080p HD.

Has this been puppy killed???
I see what you mean, but when I decided to build my own bike about half a year ago I still had a lot to learn and halfway into the build I started realising it might be nicer to build it up a bit more period correct etc, but I just didn't want to go through all the trouble of selling, finding, buying and waiting for the right/nice parts again. Just wanted to ride it, so I stuck to my innitial plan.
It's not thát bad as a first build, is it?
I might build it up more period correct once or sell it and build something new, if that comforts you. ;) -
Just finished my first real built a few days ago. SS conversion.
Really pleased with the way it turned out.
Need to desticker the front wheel, but will be replaced with either a Zipp or HSON to match the rear anyway. Fork needs a respray into something more silky instead of matt to match the rear wheel and the frame a layer of clearcoat over the stickers, but just couldn't wait any longer with this weather.

Hey,
First of all: sorry if I overlooked other threads, but I used the search and google.
I'm in the final stages of building my first fixed conversion.
A BLB/Formula hub spaced at 120mm needs to fit into my 130mm spaced frame.
The axle is too narrow though, with the bolts only going on halfway with washers on, which I think is too tricky.
I don't want to bend the stays either, since the frame is aluminium. So, looking for a solution, I just came across this axle conversion thing on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Halo-130mm-axle-converion-halo-track-fixed-hubs-/370379353466?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item563c546d7aWill this work on the Formula hub too?
Couldn't really find out if these Halo's were the same.
And am I overlooking stuff or can this be done easier/cheaper?Thanks a lot!

Peeps of the good life,
My aunt just called me to ask if I was interested in her '87 Koga Traveller Mixte.
It's just a bit too small for me, so I told her I could check out how much it would be worth, before maybe putting it up (here).
She only send me these two pictures sofar, but I remember seeing the bike a year ago in perfect condition.
It was always stored inside, still has the original pump, waterbottle and saddlebag attached too and just had new tires fitted.

It has the drops like pictured on the male version.
Parts:

So no high end stuff(?), but all in very good condition though.
Could one of you help me out or send me in a direction on putting a pricetag on this?
Would be really appreciated!
Björn.
