Thinking about entering the Epsom CC event on H25/8 on 29th September, I'm gonna ride Medium Gear 72" just to see if I can go "under" I've done 26 TT's this year and 2 Cyclocross races, with the Newbury cross tomorrow and rhe Reading CC cross next weekend. I'll probably do a couple of cross events in October.

Hi all I'm gonna enter 2 cross races, the Reading CC at Prospect Park (22/09) and the North Hamphshire RC at Popham Airfield (20/10) has anybody ridden these? What are the courses like, any advice on gears (my cross bike is currently set up 50/34 12-25) I was thinking of changing the cassette to an 11-32 any advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks

andyp, I don't want to annoy anyone on the forum, I've been a member for years. If you think JA is clean you think it, I'm really dubious of the performances of most pro riders, I've been racing myself since 1985, saw my first Tour that year, I can't see how they're not "assisted" I think the "Omarta" is as strong now as its always been, going back to Anquetil and before him.

Rode the Alton CC ten tonight on H10/8 and tied with my existing record of 23:39!!! Averaged 27.075mph to the turn, with a howling tailwind, but, coming back was so hard, I know on a better night I could go at least 10/20 seconds quicker! The bike was awesome, just weather conditions were against me, I'm gonna attempt to lower the record again soon. (11th July hopefully the next attempt date)

Just don't count the teeth on the chainring, it's got 48 teeth! I've ordered a 49T its not arrived yet.
In response to clubmans thread, I started riding in 1985 I joined the Clarence Wheelers , Alf Whiteway ran the club, his attitude was "low gears" learn to pedal he used to say 66" (42x17) if he saw you out riding and he saw you on the 15, did he bollock you down the club on a Thursday night!! Alf was a real exponent of riding low gears, he was the driving force behind Tony Doyle (world pursuit champion 1980/86) and Ray Hughes a "master twiddler"
My love of riding fixed stems back years but recently I built my Paké fixed wheel TT bike, (frame/forks purchased from Pro Cyclery in Las Vegas in 2011) some of my best rides have been on fixed, hence the Dolan TC1, I hope the bikes faster, its considerably lighter, I'm hoping I can do a few decent rides on it in the future. My forms not as good as in previous seasons but I'm plugging away this year. I'm looking forward to Thursday I just hope my legs are good (I'm riding the a3crg 15 on P884/15b on Wednesday, I'm hoping to lower my HDW 15 record on the Wednesday) so, if my legs are ok and the weather is favourable I hope to beat my existing record. Here's to Thursday and H10/8.
