i recovered my specialized toupe with plain black leather (it was white before). it looks much smarter but i'm not 100% happy with it. I'll post a picture when i get round to it, i forgot to take photos before and during but it was relatively straightforward, just involved some sewing. I'm not sure if it will be waterproof but i've sprayed it with shoe protector...

that is interesting - that ram wouldn't fit my machine, but everywhere says the z33a is identical. hmm.
i bought 1gb, it arrived today, i works but the computer still doesn't - the problem was apparently with the 256kb of onboard ram that is part of the mainboard. are there any super techy people who would know how to go into the bios and disable that ram? or does anyone know of an actually good (as opposed to somewhere that thinks they are good) computer repair shop....?
Thanks for non-bike related tips.

thanks for super fast and helpful responses!
so I can get a 1gb infineon module from ebay for £50 or a 512mb crucial module for £75
£75 seems a bit much (it's an old machine) but is infineon any good?
Thanks again

I have this laptop that I am trying to resurrect with new RAM. I am having difficulty finding any / being sure that it will fit. It currently has a Kingston module in U3264C250 (256mb) and I would like to slot in a 512 or 1gb module.
Is there anyone sufficiently knowledgeable to tell me if
or
will fit? or does anyone have any other suggestions as to where to go to get ram?
I am getting frustrated as I've ordered from two places who have subssequently told me they can't get stock...
Thank you

i was always told not to ask about salary at a first interview (i suppose this might be your 15th interview).
If you should be on £30k in Aberdeen I would have thought £45k in London was reasonable.
This is based on an approx 50% mark up in law - the only area I know - but your industry might be different (without wanting to incur the wrath of non-London lawyers, I think London lawyers work more hours and so get paid more for that reason, as well as just due to increased cost of living)

I'm looking for a bike for a friend, he is 5'9" with short legs/longer body. he wants to spend upto £500 and i've had a scout round (something like this might've done, although i'm not too hot on frame sizes in the <6'5" range)
I think 54cm / 55cm is probably right?
newer, less than 10 years old - maybe aluminium with carbon forks/stays. he's not interested in a nice classic bike...
anyone have anything?
thank you

I have just been into evans to buy some cross top levers to use as primary levers on my new (2010) fuji track classic which I will be riding mostly single speed to begin with.
The bars are 26mm at the stem, but I am almost certain that they taper. Evans did had some tektro levers with a 24mm hinged clamp. The guy in evans used vernier calipers to try to measure them on the bike they had in store, but i think he did it incorrectly - we didn't move the bell or reflector and a 2.2mm taper isn't too easy to spot.
Anyway - can anyone with certainty say what the diameter of the bars is away from the clamp? I lost my verniers. Do I really want a 26mm lever or a 23.8mm lever (ie do the bars taper, and if they do, does it actually make much difference if i put the brakes nearer or farther from the stem?
thank you in advance -
plus - if anyone has any for sale I would be most grateful - I will be PMing the various for sale thread OPs when I know exactly what I'm looking for!
-
Tim - just checking that you received my payment - I thought from the PM you sent on Monday that you had, but I just checked my paypal and I can't find a record of it - let me know (trusting your honesty here...) and I will send it again. It is likely i'm being a muppet and not understanding paypal correctly, but let me know and i'll try again.

I have one you can have for £70 including an 18 tooth freewheel. I paid £65 for it and £10 for the freewheel.
it's a system X hub hand-laced to a Mavic MA3 rim running dead true.
it was barely used when I got it and has seen another 40 miles on a bike that was waiting for a sutrmey hubgeared wheel to be built.
I appreciate you might not want to spend that much if you're wanting it for your project puch (which, by the way, looks nice).
