Thanks for the very informative reply. Gives me an idea that I probably won't be using these anytime soon...
Fine to ride a fixed cog like that, so long as..
you have two working brakes
expect at any time for it to come undone and then as you try to prevent it unscrewing end up stripping the threads on the hub.As for bearings, they will fill with dirt and be knackered quickly unless you have using them on an indoor track and they never go outside (but to me they look filthy)

Apologies for this probably n00b question but here is my issue...
I bought a bike which came with a wheelset, upon further inspection it seems that,
The hubs are road hubs, the type where you screw on the cassette? (I'm not too familiar with road parts).
The bearings on the rear hub drive-side are visible.
Now, I know this isn't supposed to be like this so I had a couple of questions, is it safe to ride with the bearings exposed like this? Also is it safe to ride with cog and lockring on this type of hub? Lastly, if I am able to ride on these okay but need a dust cover or whatever, is it possible to maybe use one from a campag hub?
Here are some pictures. Thanks in advance for dealing with my lack of knowledge.

**Мишка x Prolly Is Not Probably
**Size Small T-shirt
I've worn it no more than two times then it sat in in a box for nearly two years. Released at the beginning of 2011. The print is like new and overall the t-shirt is in pretty much mint condition, it's just too small for me. Get some mad hip points. (If I'm barking up the wrong tree I'll back down and take my ass to eBay).£25£20http://i1251.photobucket.com/albums/hh560/ikeval/IMG_2796.jpg
Come to NW2 to pick up or can possibly meet at Waterloo. I'm in the process of moving so I can't really make any other arrangements.

There are so many times I've seen bikes terribly locked outside of that sainsburys it's unbelievable.
Seen outside Willesden Green Sainsbury's. It caught my eye because of the lock through only the wheels, then I noticed it doesn't even loop through the stand.
My only hope is that this is bate from the police and that someone isn't really that stupid.

I don't think Dammit was trying to imply that you should hide the crack, just get it fixed. Personally if I was in the market for a bike, I would rather buy this from you welded than not. Obviously my opinion, play the field I'm sure someone will come along and buy this. I've got the track pro version of this of the same year and I love it.
Good luck with the sale.
If it can be easily welded then I suggest you get it welded.
You'll have more success selling a bicycle that has not got a crack in it I suspect.

I'm assuming that was signed for? As far as I know they are terrible with things that don't need to be signed for and can fit through the letterbox. That is not definitive obviously but I assume this.
So, as a counterpoint, I ordered the miche cranks they have on sale at the moment. It said on the page they were out of stock til friday the 12th. Sent an email Monday the 15th to confirm they had got them in and got a response saying yes and they would ship that day. Arrived thursday the 18th. Even got a ship confirmation email before the package. No probs bob. Judging by everyone elses experience i'd still be highly wary of using them but if you have already ordered prior to reading this thread you don't necessarily need to despair yet.

I'm in my first year, I was quite interested in the "new" bike club but I don't think it's for me as after being excited about the first ride, I then managed to miss it and looking at the pictures it doesn't even look like there is anyone who rides fixed, track or single speed. I may be wrong but it seems the rides that are organised vary from CX, downhill, mountain and road.

Damn, I just ordered something on Monday without looking up about them pr seeing this thread. Paid for 24h postage(/48h). I should have known these people are flakers it seems too good to be true. I needed the brake I ordered ASAP, not in a month. Will be sending them an email....hate the fact they dont even have a number. As everyone else has said, AVOID. I'll update my experience with them later.

House Stuff
If you would like anything please do send me a private message and I will send you my number. Pick up from NW2. If things are left I will be throwing them out, which would be quite a waste as they are in good condition.
IKEA coat stand probably gone this weekendpull up barIKEA Desk Chair
table which I have been using as a desk from IKEA like this.
It has a couple of marks but still sturdy and useable. The legs screw off and you can remove them for easy transport.
I will probably have more things to add but as I said before if you commit to pick up please do because I feel quite bad having to throw these things away. The earlier you can pick up the better.
