Hi fella, any news on whether a seatpack ala revelate ( but better, obvs), will be doable?
Im actually working on something at the mo, toying with either a full seatpack or a seatpack drybag harness.
The range is going to be a bikepacking/touring hybrid as I like things from both. To me full bikepacking or full biketouring setups can be flawed - you know?

Thermarest have just put out a new blow up one (http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/therm-a-rest-neoair-venture-sleeping-mat-p292551). The blow up (as opposed to self inflating) tend to pack smaller. The neoair xlite is the best mat around though as it has thermal properties for even arctic conditions.
I'm probably going to pick up the new one (linked one) as I find my self inflating mat low on the performance side for its size.

I'm moving away from road cycling, so shifting some bits.
First off some S-Works Road Shoes. These are in a 43 and have seen minimal use. I bought them last summer and haven't ridden them for more than about 5 or 6 rides. These have a small paint chip on the front (inside edge) and a couple of marks on the bottom from general use. They come FROM THE FACTORY with touch up paint on the sides where the sole joins the upper, this is the case with all of the shoes as I raised the issue and checked several pairs. It's not any bother, I just wanted to be sure with such an expensive shoe.
They don't need any embellishing, they're one of the best if not these best pro shoe in the world.
They're a 260 quid shoe, but I got a good price on them so I'll let them go for **gone **(including mesh bag + original box).
Next up are FSA SLK-Light GXP Carbon road cranks. They're compact (50/34t) 172.5mm and have incredibly minimal use, maybe 100 miles if that. I bought these towards the end of my interest in road cycling. These are 200 quid on Planet-x. These come with the FSA BB. I'm after 120 + Post
Here's a Prologo nago evo saddle with the pro Ti rails. I don't remember how much it was, but I think i paid about 80 quid for it, I'm after 50 + post
These are the cranks which came with my Ridley Orion, They're your run of the mill gossamers. They're not that nice looking but in good nick. I think there's a small preset thingy missing on the other side but you can easily buy them. There's two good chainrings if anything, 30 + Post
Thanks errybody

what is this touring saddle bag of which you speak!?!
It's more a classic style one rather than a bikepacker one, but i am thinking of putting one of those on the table. bikepacking stuff/biketouring stuff can mix, but i don't think i'll end up in the territory of framebags or handlebar drybag harnesses.
-
it's where I'm taking the company, there's a huge demand for modern style bicycle touring kit - and it's just not done here. In the states you have swift industries and offerings from some of the courier bag companies like ynot, but as far as the EU goes there's nothing.
it's pretty exciting stuff. the bar bag is ready along with a touring saddle bag made from a simliar pattern (without the rigid part). simple, light (ish) and fully weatherproof panniers are also nearly there.
after getting permission from Rixen&Kaul to use their klickfix system, they've allowed me to get the frames from them OEM. the bags will be around the 60-70 mark but that pricepoint wont be attainable until i get the frames from them.
thanks champs

Lovely stuff, im planning on shifting the carbon frame, crankset and brakes from my ridley and building a cross-check tourer/road/cx bike with what's left.
Wanna run lowrider rack with panniers, rando bag and seatbag i think.
Can you buy the crosscheck frame only? or isit just frameset.
Also apollo - what mudguards are they? look trick.

I want them shorts.
Amazing stuff man, really nice seeing the bag get put to work.
I'm also favoring the idea of front loading too, the thing that clinched it for me was somebody likened it to 'pushing' the load from the front rather than 'pulling' from the back - which definitely appeals to me.
im sure a bunch of people here would love to see a gear breakdown, are you tarping/bivvying or tenting? etc!

I've got a couple of weights of xpac, was going to use a combination of the heavier weight and 1000d cordura for the 'butt' of it and the lighter weight for the rolling part. Cordura will be fairly minimal, just for reinforcement at contact points with the seat post and saddle rails. Will almost a dead rip-off of the older style Revelate bags to see how things fit before worrying about added attachments or weight saving
I don't know about big balls, I think I've still got a couple of kilos of spare fat left insulating my core...
I wanted to have a play with some xpac a while ago, but realistically 500d is superior due to the overall abrasion resistance. It's just so damn expensive it's not worth looking at from a production perspective, especially when 500d exists. It's a supremely underrated fabric that is slowly becoming more and more used. xpac was kind of the ultralite badge of honour (aside from cuben), but people are coming around to the idea of using something that will last a touch longer.
I love the idea of the stuff though, if i was making things just for me, I'd definitely be tempted as long term durability isn't something I really have to worry about on personal bags.

Thanks! Spent a lot of time looking the mini-messenger and day pack of yours to figure out how some bits should be stitched together. Getting ready to try a slightly larger and better supported version over the next couple of weeks...
what material are you looking at? I'd suggest a 500d PU Nylon. Super tough but also light and plyable
also you have bigger balls than me sleeping on the ground without thermarest!

I am in Bournemouth, my studio is at BH7 6HJ!
I'm chuffed that this happening, You're all too kind. I'll make sure there's something at my end for all that make it.
Depending on how you all get on with the route, i'll definitely have to come back up on the route at a later date, maybe when my SS tourermobile is ready and I've got a set of panniers to show off.

WI ENO. Seriously pricey, but will outlast the wheel it's put on - almost certainly.
They look pretty radical!
or get a freehubs body to run singlespeed with spacers given the cost of the WI (thought they are awesome).
I'm spaced for single speed (on a pompino) so sadly not an option. Would make wheel selection much easier.
My Halo Clickster is going nicely if you can't quite face £75
Thanks for the heads up! I had seen those on bikemonger
