Yeah mucho cheers to econodog for leading us around and arranging some great coffee. It was a really fun ride and a great day for it.
Highlights:
econodog's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang bike
latte at Monmouth and then chatting in the roastery surrounded by tens of thousands of pounds worth of beans
College Road (College Lane?) around Dulwich
all that bloody sunshine! That's just a few...hope something else again soon

Good of you to swing by into LFGS Peter.
Maybe I should only speak for myself, but I’d think most people take less umbrage with you/your writing with the quality of the bikes which get promoted and or bought buy uninformed people thinking they’re getting a bargin and some cool points too. Unipack/Create/lower end SE Draft from a couple years back - for example – are notorious around here because either are poorly assembled, wear out quickly or expose themselves as uncomfortable and poorly designed. There are many posts and folks who’ve bought one and then over time replaced every item on the bike in an effort to get comfortable and stay safe, and then sell the frame because it’s not right either – too heavy or, say, only being offered in one size. These are usually people who consistently cycle after buying a bike, which is kind of the point.
Only nincompoops on fixed gears and SS would describe themselves as urban warriors needing bomb-proof gear for teh mad streetz of London. None of us need that – mostly because that crap doesn’t exist. What we need and want are quality bikes and parts that are customisable and suit our needs for, you know, safely cycling at high speeds and for extended periods of time. Aesthetics too, yes.
These sorts of bikes because - aside from the colours and deep wheels - they just aren’t good bikes and are unsafe. If you UTFS for Unipack and/or create and ‘crash’ or ‘mechanical failure’ or ‘the fucking rear cog fell off at Elephant and Castle roundabout after 9 days’ – you’ll find that we are rightly deride them for the poor quality bikes they are.

wiganwill's comment was pretty funnny though.
"The first time I went to one of their 'drinks' evenings (held, for some reason, next to a dumpster in the car park of a Tesco in Balham) I was expecting to meet a bunch of like minded individuals. Instead I encountered nothing less than gang of drunken louts..."
Glad I've never been to Southies now

I was second behind Droput at the top of ditchling and I don't even think he was still sweating by the time I arrived. It was a fuck yeah!/fucking hell who is this guy moment.
I watched Skive do at least 45mph down ditchling road to the sea. Made me a little nervous, then I almost hit a little dog. Close call so just watched where I was going down to the pier
-
Indeed, thanks again to all for the fantastic ride and 3 cheers for skive who was a mightly good leader and for the ice cream at the top of ditchling. A life changing 99 flake. you have a beer coming to you.
Really tempted to go again next weekend. Didn't have any beer and beach time and feel like I need to make up for it

Starting at Garys Inn Road I did a loop around Hyde Park which was really nice. A bit traffic-y at the start/end though. And yes the Mall is so quiet at lunch...
Done Bloomsbury too many times visiting my girl at lunch to enjoy it now, and still looking for something nice. Will have to be quiet back streets today unless someone's got a genius idea in the next 30 mins...

My normal ride in this morning standard leaving time of 8.10 – where were all the single speeds and fixed gears? Through Walthamstow (none expected here really), Stamford Hill, Stoke Newington and Dalston, Angel, Gray’s Inn Road – 2, maybe 3 single speeds only. My only conclusion must be all this freezing weather and hard summer rain was simply too much for you this morning. Roads mostly clear. Few fluors on Bromptons looking tough and that was about it.
This must be why we see pretty bikes in the classifieds that say ‘never ridden in the wet’. Or generally. Your bikes are not bikes - just an affectation of your LDN lifestyle
I’m not saying it’s you LFGSSpeeders who weren’t out riding this morning (I reckon a fair share were) but to fixed gear London in general: you’re made of origami. Your hearts pump Kool-Aid

That's terrible man, makes me nervous for you. Way to keep your head up though.
I used to live on the old North Peckham estate by Burgess Park and then later down past Camberwell Green - listen to what the others and myself are saying: stick the main roads. It's well grim around that part...
"Del: Your joking aint you Rodders? The only people who ever missed Peckham were the Lufftwaffe"
What a ride (and my first night ride)! There was a point about 3.30 when I started hallucinating and was saved by the raconteur skills of Dropout who woke back up my brain, but there wasn't a point where I didn't enjoy myself. Skive was a fearless leader and thanks to Stonehenge as well for keeping the pack together at the back (and we found out he is the only member of the Lonley Gay Bike Society).
Got an hours sleep on the train back but then breakfast, coffee, then sunshine, then beers in the park, laughs, more beers and then EXTREME tiredness at 10.30.
Already looking forward to the next big ride.
