The 2nd gen. C-Record rear mech won't support indexing. Fortunately, at least it's a really nice shift you get with that setup.
Remember to pack the jockey and pulley wheels with grease; they are adjustable cup and cone types. I'm not sure how much play you should dial in, but slightly loose is better than slightly tight, especially for the upper jockey wheel.
ta for the tip rodabod. yes im running it friction, as you say there is no indexing with 2nd gen RM, it has no slant on the parallelogram so moves too far with each click. I dont have a problem with the friction shift and just had to have that rear mech.

Anyone got any good French language films to recommend? I really struggle with my hearing when conversing in French and films are a good way for me to practice. I'm not talking Godard or Jeunet but definitely something contemporary?
Irreversible is pretty amazing. I think it starred Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassell? Quite brilliant with astonishing acting although it is rather harrowing, not sure i could watch it again. Amelie it aint.

Just finished this pub bike for my wife. I bought the frame with the intention of building a race bike for my lads but as they won't fit it for a couple of years yet thought id do something in the meantime.
The frame came from a mate who's dad used it to break the vets national 24h record back in the 80s. 531 with curved seat stays and all internal cabling.
Most of the parts i had but couldn't resist buying the mudguards, saddle and rack. A bit OTT maybe and a possibly a sad end for such a noble frame but my wife loves it and has agreed to extending the bike shed, yippee.

Ive been tidying up my old track bike;/attachments/17030
/attachments/17032
Thought it was looking pretty good, apart from the rear rim. I changed it back when i was racing on it and didnt keep the original. its an Araya Aero2 24 spoke and im trying not very succesfully to find another. I used to get people always wanting to buy the handlebars, they`re nitto Aerodynamic.I bought it in the early nineties from a wholesaler who didnt seem to know much about it, but reckoned it was a show bike from the late eighties and might be Japanese. It was plain white with no makers marks or transfers (the Venom decals is just the respray). It has suntour dropouts and suntour superbe pro group.
If anyone out there has any ideas as to what it might be id love to know. i didnt take much interest in it when i was racing it but now i think its a great looking thing.
A TT question...and sorry if there is another thread for this sort of thing, just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.
When i ride short TT s and am going full bore and stay on the tri bars, after about 7 miles i get a loss of feeling in the legs starting in the toes. This seems to be lack of blood as if i get out of the saddle or ride on the tops i feel the blood washing back. Ive tried lots of different saddles and positions and its slightly worse on the lo pro as opposed to a road bike with clip ons. there is restricted blood flow somewhere but i dont think it is in the groin, someone did tell me there are some big arteries around the hip bones, maybe there?
Ive never had this problem on the track, probably the races are too short and never in road races where i guess im in and out of the saddle and the pace is always changing.
Its frustrating having to sit up and have someone youve caught come back past you. Im coming back to a bit of local racing after about 10 years off. Previously i did mostly road and track and didnt bother with TT s much although i can remember it happening a little but its much worse now.
any ideas?
