Singlespeed Pub Bike/Beater for sale

Frame is steel, lugged, plain gauge, nothing fancy, unbranded and measures 53.5cm c-t. It's straight and true with no dents or dings but a fair few chips and scratches to the paintwork.

Front wheel is an old Maillard racer wheel. Rear is unknown flip-flop with a 16t freewheel. Fixed side threads look ok but are completely untested!

Chainset is RPM(I think) with a 39t chainring.

Calipers and levers are Weinemann.

Blah, blah, blah....

All in all, a good solid pub bike but nothing fancy.

I definitely think as many Toon cyclists as possible should support the opening of this. Unless they're just too cool that is!! A polo presence could be useful self-publicity too.

....I was looking at a Mavic Ellipse wheelset or something a bit lighter. Not really many light track/fixed wheelsets about like.

There is truth in this.
Road wheels are lighter, track wheels are stronger.
Get some custom built is the answer.

Looks like I've been ripped by the seller of the Turbo saddle I bought on Ebay, so I'm still in the market for an 80s saddle to finish off the Waugh.

Cheers Gaz. Yours is coming along nicely. I'm a bit gutted that this bike has cost me actual cash money, 'cos I had to buy tubs and wanted a shimano 600 seatpost and a period-specific Turbo saddle. Otherwise, everything woulda been partbin special. Cost in total - £150ish.

Would have had drum brakes originally. I have a pair of 26"ers from just such a bike.
