Hah, I just stumbled upon this thread, and I live in Copenhagen too.
Ed is right. Cyclists here are both rude and completely moronic.I go everywhere on my bike, and every time I'm out in rush hours, I get annoyed by other people. We have bike lanes pretty much everywhere, but it's not exactly comfortable riding brakeless, as you constant see people overtake without looking back. A lot of female cyclists (pardon my generalization) doesn't seem to know how to change gears, so they stop in the highest gear, causing them to wobble around like crazy when they leave a light.
There is sooo many people riding side by side, and combined with the fact that there's shitloads of Christiania bikes and other cargobikes on the street, it can be really hard to ride with a decent pace. What annoys me the most, is probably the fact that, whenever you have to stop for a red light, you get overtaken by so many slow riders, who just has to be up front at the red light.
The only way to get around comfortably is to use the bus- or car lane closest to the bike lane, and always be sure to be on the other side of the pedestrian crossing area and into the traffic. That said, I have experienced pedestrians kicking my wheel if I'm in their area, so I'm not big on trackstanding anymore :)What have you experienced more specifically, Ed?

There are several nice mixtes here in NL if you are willing to email them and ask for shipping. 75 euros is pretty cheap for a 531 frame
Thanks. How do you know its a 531?

I've asked about shipping earlier, and decided not to buy, as the shipping was too high expensive to Scandinavia.
Have you found a cheaper way to ship a pair of wheels, or is it still £40? (I've received full bikes for less)
www.parcel2go.com is pretty good to find shipping rates, and if shipping was cheaper, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a pair! -

I'm selling a nice ladies bike, which is as good as new.
Giant with Nexus 8 speed at EUR 300.-
But I don't know if it's clever to buy that if she's going to live in one of the major cities. People use simple and cheap bikes, because of the risk of robbery. In Amsterdam EUR 25.- from one of the many junks there...
You can even point out the exact bike you want.I might be interested in your Giant. Can you send me some info like size and model, and maybe even some pictures? thanks.

Start by persuading her to ride a conventional diamond frame, not a ladies bike. 178cm is nice and tall for a girl, so there will plenty of choice of frames. Maybe something like a Giant FCR if you want light, basically a road bike with flat bars.
I tried! - Bikes with conventional frames looks a lot better aswell.
However, she wants something that looks like an old Raleigh Caprice, I just haven't been able to see one IRL, so I could see if its light enough.

Oh, so I somehow promised my girlfriend to build her a bike while she is spending 2 months in asia with two female friends.
She is 178cm, and the most important thing is that the new bike is light!
She currently has a standard ladies town bike which weighs like its made in cast iron.
She can't live without mudguards and a basket.Any clues on where to start?

I have finally realized, that I need a longer seatpost.
My current one is a Triplex seatpost, measuring 21cm from the saddle rail to the bottom, so I'm guessing that's below standard length.
If possible, I'd like it to be from the same era as the bike (a '84 Merckx track) and suitable to put on a bike with Campag R Pista. It has to be silver/chrome.
tell me, if you have anything interesting!
