The continentals are quite good, I've got them on my steel rimmed commuter and has improved braking alot in the dry, better, but not great in the wet though, but short of getting new rims it's the best I can do methinks

my girlfriend has a vintage Edwardes frame hanging around the house, we tried to build it up but the top tube was too long (she's shorter than yours, so it might fit) frame, forks and seat tube. headset is nice and bearings are smooth.
here's a photo of it built
i think she picked it up for 50 pounds, so an offer in that area would be good. let me know.
oh and its 48cm.

Tell me about it, The council seem intent on getting rid of anything that is unique to this place and converting it into one big generic shopping mall/office tower land.
Did anyone go to the meeting about Digbeth re-generation at Ikon Eastside last year? Some interesting points were made there.

Obviously you may have posted here to avoid using ebay, but it seem's to be a good source for older womens bikes, I've seen old raleigh mixtes in good working condition go for about £30. They seem alot less in demand than old horizontal top-tube racers etc.

Yeah I did fit some 24'' off a kids mtb on it, albeit still with loads of clearance even with fat tyres. I think 26'' mtb with slicks may fit, but old 26'' Road wheels are too big. 650c's fit it aswell. I think if it had 24'' wheels on it would probably be too small for an adult though.

I've got a 48cm raleigh medalle frame, with horizontal top tube. Not sure what size wheels it takes (too small for 700c) There's a dent in the downtube but could be a decent beater/project perhaps.

Generally considered to be not very good, used on cheap 'sports' bikes and the like.
That said, if you ever decide to redo the paint and need a high quality 453 decal, I made one on illustrator for my bike and can send you the file if you'd like.
