So my Campy Vento G3 rear wheel has gone slightly but noticably out of true. Contemplating fixing it before Dunwich Dynamo this weekend, but wary about this unique spoking pattern.
Just wondering if truing a G3 rear wheel is tricky/difficult? Would experience in lacing a couple of wheels in tri-cross pattern be good enough? cheers etc. -
For the record I'm Hong Kong Chinese and moved to London only 2 years ago, so I dont think i share some of the subtle cultural references/ psychologies mentioned above. as an outsider/newcomer there is no "by default" race for me. I am aware of the "knife culture" in the city but i have no idea if stabbers are typically white, black or asian. as a cyclist i have had some unpleasant encounters both black and white drivers and pedestrians.
Concerning with why I described him *only *by skin colour besides gender, I did think about height and age, but i am especially bad in judging height, and tend to over-estimate ages of other races. So i thought it's better omit than getting them wrong. As clothing is temporary, i didnt mention that in the "story" as i did in the police report.
The vague mention of the kitchen knife in the final chapter paired with the skin colour of the assailant supposed to fill the reader - already conditioned by the previous reports in "Daily Star" - with fear and sympathy towards the author.
i do not remember what race the burglarers are in that incident. concerning the knife, it was because i grabbed a glass prepared to break it to defend myself only later realised there were some serious weapon on his way into the living room.
Sorry if i am ruining everyone's excited debate based implicitly on the white/black distinction. To conclude the description was out of limitation other than "focus" i.e. racism really. My point is that not every wording has a meaning that can and only can be interpretted by particular frameworks. The consequent "extinguisher" attitude towards (expression of) racism can easily miss the point, which doesnt help to address what conditions extreme forms of classification and its derivatives, in this case of other human beings.
I understand BMMF's professional concerns about the structure of racism that permeate the society through "racist speaks", but i seriously doubt the legitimacy of the methodology to equate particular incidents (jargon: text) i.e. mine in this case to a cultural phenomenon. IMO it risks pointless confrontation that just stir up muddy water.

Did you call the police?
No. Honestly, didnt want to listen to the bureaucratic shit. Police wouldnt be arsed to do anything, "No force entry, nothing was taken, blahblahblah."
upon second thought i reported it online. just so i can be contacted to provide info in case there was other (successful) burglaries in the neigbourhood yesterday.

Heard noise from the kitchen which faces the backyard yesterday afternoon. Went to check and saw a black guy sneaking in through the open vertical sliding window in the kitchen. He was surprised, tho not really shocked, to see me here, and just murmurred "wrong door" and then walked towards the living room door, unlocked it, and left through the backyard.
He didnt (have time to) take anything, though I thought he was to open the door and left his friends in. Obviously I was shocked. First thought afterward was careless me to left the window open, so ebay-ed deadbolts etc. Then I realise as the thief made no attempt to figure out if someone was in, there wasnt much i can do except locking windows whenever i am not sitting next to it.
What makes me angry was the fact the law allows thieves to try their luck like that without much risk or cost. What if he heard I was in the house as soon as he enter the kitchen and got himself a knife? What if it was my missus in the flat? What if he came with friends? Cant help but think about the discussions in the news following killing of a burglarer by the houseowner weeks ago.

is the race route the same as in "The Great Road Climbs on London" http://www.goinggoingbike.com/blog/the-great-road-climbs-of-london-swains-lane/ ?

so, the drivetrain on my bike is pretty quiet when spun without loading, which makes the source very difficult to detect. having changed every component on the drivetrain, the bb is the remaining suspect. with the chain taken off, i notice a light clicking noise when the crankset is spun.
just wanna ask if there's a way to tell if the bb is alright without actually replacing it? -

On bus lane on Old Kent Road southbound at ~1830 today, a black motorbike suddenly overtook me on the right and did a 90 deg turn right in front of me and turned into a small road. Was expecting a crash. After the miss he (she?) was looking at me but not in an apologetic way, and its when I realised he did it intentionally. Yell at him and kept on.
Further down the road, someone closed in in a provocative way, braked heavily to make loud sudden noise. The same biker. He even turned back and waved at me. Dxckhead.
He was in a group of ~10 all in black outfits and motorbikes. They all drove in a noisy, erratic way, braking the front wheel heavily to lift the rear etc. Their motorbikes looked like sportbikes but with much more ground and wheel clearances.
Anyone also bullied by motorcyclists groups?

I saw some video clips in youtube that a team of ppl cycling along the highway (may be the one going to tuen mun). But it is in early morning and looks more like a cycling team practising for race. Also I saw lots of family cycling along the road next to the main highway to airport.
Occassionally there are ppl on HK island cycling along the tram way. But I think it is quite dangerous if you manage to get your wheel stuck in the tram track.
Generally, most of the things happen early morning or very late at night in the city.there was a velodrome near Wan chai and happy vallery long time ago. wonder is it still there....
its a BMX park, not a velodrome.

I've got an Izumi Super Toughness chain...
I like everything about it - especially the "Super Toughness" name - except the fiddly joining link that has a screw and nut
Does anyone know if I can just get another joining link (which is easier to use) and run it with that instead? And if so where from?
i am skeptical about the screw and nut too - supposedly the rotating action of the chain would either tighten or loosen the nut in time, just like pedals?
on the other hand, quick links e.g. the KMC one are rather thinner than other links of the chain, making it less "super tough"?
