Witnessed a Lafarge Cement truck blow through a solid red light this morning across one of the busiest bike routes in the city.
Of course last month they were out in the car park for Bike to Work Week promoting the dangers of sitting in the "danger zone" blind spot of their 15 ton death machines. Almost as if it was all just bullshit PR.

Really nutty one this morning. This is in Canada so everything is opposite.
Riding fast down a 2 lane road approaching a junction with a busy 3 lane. I'm in primary ready to go on the left of the cars that wait to turn right and last minute get passed and cut off by a fat cunt in a BMW convertible indicating right. I ask him through his window why he bothered to pass, at which he turns bright red, aborts his maneuver, and chases me. He gets alongside and is screaming, frothing about bike lanes and whatnot so I call him a "pathetic cunt". He doesn't like this and swerves completely into my lane forcing me into the curb. Off he goes.
There's a cop watching the whole thing disinterestedly from outside the US Consulate, and I ask him what I should do about that kind of situation. He tells me if I was wearing a helmet then it would avoid me getting hurt in those situations - "there's a lot of idiots out there". I ask him why the VPD thinks it's acceptable for people to use their cars as weapons. He scoffs - "it's just a bit of road rage, happens every day".
I let out an exasperated "fucking hell mate" at which he goes postal, screaming about not being "a bobby on the beat in London" and if I behave like that around him he'll give me a good smack. Vancouver's finest eh.

United over what?
JC has been one of the few worth listening to on Brexit, with a pretty reasonable and even-handed assessment of the options. That didn't stop him getting shouted down as a traitor by the party right.
Brexit is going to happen. The division caused mostly by the party right and the worthless radical centrist metro student bloc is only going to hand the day to the far right.

Acquiring a position of government for the Labour party (i.e. making serious plans to acquire sufficient public support to win an election) is not obviously on his radar.
Clearly false - the difficulty finding a consensus that would attract the electorate is exactly why there is so little clear Brexit strategy from Labour.
Labour is agreeing to membership of a customs union post-Brexit. It's a pretty incoherent concession but placates the remainers in the party and electorate, as well as taking some of the wind out of the hard right's sails for the time being.

Had a bit of a mental one last night - not in UK so no Roadsafe. On my way home I get the closest possible pass by some yuppie cunt in an Audi. I catch him up at the next lights, give him some mouth and position myself in front on his nearside to wait for the light.
I feel a tap on my back wheel - look around and he's rolled a couple of feet and my tyre is caught on his number plate. I unwedge my bike and tell him that I'm calling the cops. He starts to try to maneuver out but is boxed in by traffic in the other lane and me still in front of him, so he decides to take the soft target and keep rolling into me until I decide my legs aren't worth the fight. Jumps a red and off he goes.
The police said they would "have a word with him". Yeah, right.

Does anybody subscribe to The Times? I worked a stint at the Housing Ombudsman and would quite like to read this:

He asks if any of the residents race was a factor in them not being rescued quickly enough!
I don't see where anybody suggested that. From the Graun:
Imran Khan QC says the terms of reference for the Grenfell Inquiry did not include race, religion and social class and require amendment.
Shouldn't be a controversial statement.

I am having a hell of a time trying to get a tyre to seat straight - not something I've struggled with before. After about 3 hours yesterday of lubricating, inflating, deflating, pulling, pushing, swearing etc - I'm stumped. I also tried overinflating the tube to about 90psi (tyre rated max 60psi) which helped a little but I didn't have the guts to keep pumping.
There's about a 3 inch section on one side which stays tucked in to the rim. The only other solution I can think of is changing the width of the rim tape. Or burning the fucking thing.
Tyres are WTB Resolute 700x42 and the wheels Alex CDX4, for what it's worth.
My guess is that the party takes particular issue with the request to include "applying double standards to Israeli policy and actions that are not expected of other countries" in its official definition of antisemitism.
Jpost is suggesting he should be apologising for "taking strongly anti-Israel and anti-Zionist positions". Is that what the Jewish community (as far as there is any consensus) is looking for? Seems like an impasse.
