First ride in PTJ today. Roaring success - did a great job of the heat.
Edit - thanks @eone, have used that for more PTJs.

Just did first ride on PC8 which came bundled today. I can't seem to work out how to stop the current ride and start a new one, rather than starting a new interval on the same ride, but other than that everything is obvious, it feels solid, I like the default layouts, there's a lot on the screen at once but it's all clear to read, and it took all of five minutes to bolt on and configure. I'm surprised how good it is, and it's going to be annoying switching back to Garmin on days I need maps.

The couple in the flat above me have surround sound with a subwoofer and they're watching some crappy film with a dramatic soundtrack. I have a LeMond Revolution, well known as the trainer that translates a cyclist's fury directly into decibels. I'm in a good mood but one day I'll lose it and unleash in the living room.

Updated 15th July with new time.

Anyone used http://www.trainsharpcyclecoaching.co.uk for power meters? I placed an order with them last week, but they've been going to voicemail the past few days and haven't responded to my emails.
[Edit: they've responded now and my order is on its way to them from Germany. Clearly "in stock" is a bit misleading].

folks should think very carefully about driving any distance after a night ride. There was a fatality a couple of years back that may have been connected with the driver having just done an overnight bike ride before setting off for home (not the Dun Run).
I did this in 2013 and strongly recommend against it. My intention was to sleep in the car, but I was too wired from all the caffeine and adrenaline, plus I couldn't get into a comfortable position. I kept stopping but wasn't able to sleep. If I do it this year it'll be airbnb or somewhere.

It's more that it is almost seethrough and unflattering, like this:

The only thing that made a difference for me was calorie counting with MFP to make sure I came in with a 500cal deficit every day.
I did something very similar. MFP showed that my commute was enough to have a calorie-flat day but I needed to either eat around 500 calories less than felt natural or add at least 30 mins of exercise to see a loss. It was easier to do the latter.

The frameset alone on top tier wow factor bikes is more than the amount you quoted. Canyon are not sexy but they are German and amey is right, it's the best way to get a good carbon bike with a premium groupset for the money you mentioned.
The De Rosa R838 is probably perfect for you. It says 'De Rosa' on it, but since it's made in a mould in a Taiwanese factory it is in budget. It's exactly the same frame as the Ribble Stealth, made from the same mould, but you won't mind paying the extra few hundred quid for that 'top tier' name. You can have 105 for £1800, or Ultegra for £2299, or wait for the sales.

The gap is present in Strava when I had this outside, but inside I discard the rides from the Garmin and let TrainerRoad upload the ride from the USB ANT+ - no gaps there.
Not a pretty graph - commuting in heavy traffic. You can see it disappear, then give the small readings I mentioned, then give up till I recalibrated.
-
Does power and cadence both drop out together?
I wasn't paying enough attention. Will look out for that next time. I do have a PC7 but I've seen it do this on the trainer when the laptop via ANT+ stick (which is much further away than the head unit) continues to give correct numbers.
Battery in srm?
It's pretty new, and does still report as new. I'm thinking (and hoping) this is down to a recent Garmin software update.

My Edge 1K is doing something weird with the SRM. It drops the connection and goes to zero watts, I wait and hope it comes back. Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't or gives figures that are about 20% of what they should be. I'll stop and calibrate, and it will show that the previous calibration was over 1000, but I have never seen the number over 600 when I manually calibrate. It will then run fine again. It's like it has auto-recalibrated while I'm pedaling...
Continental Competition 25mm tubular tyres for long summer sportives and potential rainy weather too? (note: not an invitation for a tub vs clincher discussion).
