Normally ride home after 8pm but hit peak time today. Lethal cocktail of being stuck in huge promuter peloton, families on holiday, tourists on Boris bikes (they weren't doing anything wrong - we are just going too fast), busy traffic, busy zebra crossings, roadworks, and fucking e-bikes, which can fuck off. Saw one fall. I'm not a nervous rider, but did wonder if I'd get home with bike intact and just tried to chill out and be careful. Fuck commuting east to west at 6pm.

My Edge 1K dropping the power reading happened again. This time it was on Dynamo after a brief stop. Thought I'd lost the magnet in the grass, but once again, it had auto recalibrated to a number above 1000, and just needed another calibration, back to 504. Definitely looks like a bug in current firmware version. Given all the new software features they've announced in the Edge 520 coming soon to the others, I can't say I'm looking forward to the next wave of bugs. I'm using the PC8 now when I don't need maps.

found it a bit too crowded for my liking
Epping Forest road...is a pet hate of mine
riding in a bunch which made it difficult to pass them (good thing I had a bell)
I want to hear leaves rustling and birds chirping
odd to be riding without a brevet card and no designated controls
Worth trying out but not one I'll be riding again. No, probably not for you. Have you tried solo riding?

Then again, I counted the seconds between groups and the most I ever got up to was eleven seconds
I rode to the half way point and back... poor show I know. Anyway it was fun seeing the tail end of the ride coming the other way.
People trying to get supplies in Finchingfield but everything ran out an hour ago.
A late group of Bromptons.
Man with long hair around 2am on a recumbent passing through Great Bardfield (mile 42).
The very last rider I saw was well behind anyone else. Riding a shopping / city bike, possibly white like a ghost bike, with supplies wrapped in paper around the frame. On his own, at Leaden Roding, 28 miles in, with just a route card, just after 3am. We spoke. On here? Did he make it?

I had Cosmic SLRs - the 50mm aluminium Exalith things for long enough to know that heavy, very stiff aluminium rims weighed down by an extra carbon section are the worst of many worlds. Took a lot of effort to spin up and very uncomfortable. I shouldn't have given in to the scaremongering about braking issues with carbon. Nobody tells you that good carbon wheels aren't just light, they're magical for ride comfort.
The SLRs always stayed true and didn't need any maintenance despite plenty of abuse and winter commuting. Didn't like the quality of the carbon section, the valve hole was too large so the valve made knocking sounds over bumps, and the hubs looked cheap and plasticky.

@Smallfurry - same use case here actually. It turns out that my wheels come with these pre-glued, so I shall find out for myself!
Yes - we need to break down silos!
