go get your teeth whitened
Haha. Looking forward to it. The Z650 was fun but I'm looking forward to seeing how the Duke feels too - the positive reviews of the handling was partly what attracted me to it. I want something that's good at going round corners, not so I can get my knee down, but so I stay on the road. And yeah I thought I'd use rain mode for a while initially. Particularly with new tyres too.
Unfortunately I'm away with work for a week from Friday so I won't ride it until the weekend I'm back. Happy to savour the anticipation.

@Ramsaye I'm a bit embarrassed to say I already have an 890 Duke GP waiting for me in the garage. I wanted a naked so the wind blast helps keep my speeds sensible and although it's challenging asthetically, the position is perfect for me and critically I got a massive discount in the quiet winter lull a couple of months ago. Probably way too much bike for a newb but I didn't want to have something I'd grow out of quickly.
Further down the line I'd also like to test ride a CRF300 Rally either to compliment it for year round/mild off road use or as a straight replacement. But for now I just want to go get some miles under the belt and learn what I want/don't want from a bike.

All sold out, but I have an entry that I now can't use due to an unexpected work trip. :(
Would anyone be interested in buying it? I also bought a parking spot with the entry for an extra fiver.
All in it was £45, but happy to take £35 for it. The organiser tells me he's already sent out my pack with number and timing chip, although it's not arrived yet. He said it's fine for me to send it on to someone else. And I can let him know the details so he can amend their records so you'll ride as yourself and not have to pretend to be me.
It's for a 8.42am start time. Message me if interested. Thanks.

Another thumbs up for the Rujo. I bought it for winter bike duties. Been mainly on the turbo this winter so haven't fitted the guards yet.
I agree it's a bargain compared to everything else out there. Proper Rival 1x11 is really nice/functional. And it's packed with mounts and great tyre clearance. I also like the external cable routing on the frame (I can live with the front brake hose through the fork). The £999 deal they did recently was even better. I bought mine for around £1200 too though.
I'm fortunate enough to have a free ranger too and this isn't quite as lively as that, but for my purposes it's ticking all the boxes.

Fair point. But it's a mentality Argentina seem to bring to every world cup and I really dislike it. Much as you have admire Messi, I couldn't want them to win as I don't like seeing shithousery as you call it succeeding.
Or perhaps I just wish England would show that "win at all costs" mentality? But I wouldn't get any enjoyment from seeing us win anything via deception and cheating.

My interpretation of @ekudduke 's Stayer. A few minor tweaks to make still, but I have until Spring to sort those as this won't be going out until the roads are dry.

Sorry for the slow reply, work got in the way. But I've had a quick reply from my pal. He and our more experienced acquaintance have both used these guys for more piste based camps:
https://onyxsnowboarding.com/winter-snowboard-camps/
He reckons that they're exactly what you've said you want. Give them a bell to talk through what you're after and they'll be able to make recommendations.
He added that if you want the best possible experience look for something similar in Canada or the US, but in my opinion you'll have the time of your life in PdS area. Still pricey but not trans Atlantic pricey.
I've not had a lesson in about 28 years, but have a 2 hour private lesson with my brother in a week's time to assess any bad habits we have. It's with Mint and my daughter is having a week of lessons with them too. So I'll be able to comment on them with first hand experience soon.
Our group has also used Pleisure in Morzine in the past and we've had several situations where rando solo guests in our chalet have tagged along with us for the week.
Whatever you do, do it. Riding in the mountains is very different (infinitely better) than any snow dome. 👌

A friend of a friend in the group I board with has done quite a few of these sort of solo training camps. But he's significantly better than all of the rest of us so the camps tend to be quite advanced and specific ie a week in the park or a week in the back and beyond. I do know that they tend to be very much boarding and progression focused vs club 18-30 on snow so they might suit your objective nicely.
I can ask him if there are any intermediate friendly options and for his recommendations though if you like. I assume you have your basic control/turns sorted?
Please don't judge the garage! I'll get some proper pics once it finally leaves the garage.
