I saw 3 cops booking RLJ on bishopsgate, then got shouted at by an Aussie Hobby Bobby near London Bridge.
Watch out.
as far as I'm aware, the plastic filth do not have the authority to detain you and by that I mean, lay a finger on you. so if you ride off, no biggie. they'll just get on their radio
this is the reason most of them give you the option: 'do you want a fine or a lecture?' *'they is frontin' bruv' *always so tempting to say it depends how long the lecture will be...
don't take my word for it but in my experience, just be polite, bite your tongue, make like you care and you'll be off
common sense usually prevails but if you're a dickhead you will get done. how profound...

The only valid legal excuse for riding on a pavement is that you're scared. ie getting out of the way of a dangerous driver or something.
But then and again I doubt most police know this. For example, it's illegal to ride a bike with less than two brakes on the road here but have you ever heard of anyone getting stopped on a brakeless bike? This is why all bikes legally have to be sold from a shop with two brakes even if it's a fixed. I got stopped for doing two redlights in a row a while ago in Camden and the two police were complimenting my front brake only fixie as they used to be keen cyclists so we were chatting bikes. I thought they were going to let me off the bastards...

i have 2 frames going spare, and want a BMX....
how tall are you?would want to swap it for a complete polo bike really unless you'd want to buy the bmx which would fund a polo beater or maybe part exchange...
the bmx i have spare is a bit heavy and old by today's standards (american b/b, un integrated headset, 36/16 gearing) but bombproof with some very good parts on it, primo powerbite cranks, oddysey dirt forks, atomlab stem and a few other bits, some brand new even. I could probably put some better peds, seat and post on it that are on it at present, as i have them lying about. It's made up of parts I've since updated on my bmx with over time and a few more I got second hand and new to turn a cupboard full of bits into a bike.
oh, i'm 5ft 6ish

Guys I don't want to bin the frame but I will, jus sayin'....
Wut frame?
I need to sort out a beater for polo and was thinking of swapping a bmx for one off here but need to wait untill I can post in the classified threads. I'm not really in a rush though as doubt a polo bike would be good for the trek to PeckNam and back from Bow so would just use it for the east sesh's when I'm not so green. So a slow build might be do-able.

genius sir, the post if perfect, beers heading your way tonight if thats ok. Im not 100% sure how many i need because the fork hasnt been cut down yet, its just a beater so was going to just see if peoples had any spare and go from there, i imagine 15 / 20mm would be enough, i was gunna check the size then chop the fork.
thanks for all your help
Nay bother, I'll have to shoot home first after work to grab it and see about the spacers (don't count on the spacers) so won't be down there all that early but will be there at some point. I'll be on the brown surly (wearing a pink carnation and adopting a silly walk) so you can pick me out from the crowd. One can of Holsten Pills or a pack of maryland cookies will be more than enough squire.

without wanting to spam up wicksies lovely thread if anyone has some 1 1/8 headset / fork spacers or a 27.2 seatpost they want to trade for money / beer let me know... i would post a wanted ad but cant be bothered with a mission around london for something so small / cheap 2nd hand
you can have this post for a can of beer or a pack of biscuits, i think it's 27.2, came off an old schwinn road bike. maaaay have some spacers, I'll shoot back and have a quick rummage in my tool box before heading down tonight. Do you know how many you need?

No life jackets I'm afraid but sick bags and emergency procedure cards have been picked up along the way.
I got them for free when I first moved out of home about ten years ago and needed some furniture and have carted them round ever since. It was a bit random how I got them. I knew a bloke who lived above a taxi rank and they were just there in the kitchen. I have no idea how they turned up there though. You could try emailing Nathan Barley if you can't get any from lufthansa : )
Yep, the poster is a bit dark, it's my housemate's and we both used to be couriers, both BMX and both share a questionable sense of humour so it's 'right at home.'

Carbon polo mallet?
I hope you have a lot of them...It's not really a classifieds thread mate, keep it in the polo sections, and more than that, UTFS. There is more than one thread on mallet head pipes.

http://www.lfgss.com/thread52067-4.html
You should get some joy from there. Failing that, they can be found on the roads fairly easily.
Good luck.
It's just to get started so I can chuck one in and not have to wait plus it was free. Will probs pick up a golf club when I find one.
Slap wrists for me then : )

Can't seem to post a new thread in the classifieds but has anyone got a spare bit of pipe for a mallet head?
Can swap for a nordic carbon blinging fibre walking pole as I picked up two off freecycle on Friday. They're quite long and have hand straps which may or may not be a good idea.
Will be at the beginner sesh in peckham tmrw so if so, let me know and I'll bring one along.
