Well that's pretty cool, especially if you do the riding section without foot retention. If your banging your legs when you're carrying it upstairs, there's not many pedals which won't hurt a bit, other thn those shite ones which come as standard on low-end bikes. Can you put the bike over your shoulder ?

Yeah defs.... its way lighter than my old bike and goes onto shoulder with ease. Its more like awkward stairwells and hallways and stuff where I do myself harm. These things are just stupidly sharp.

Is there an easier way given my lack of knowledge when it comes to bike cranks and what not... like can I jump on a bike at the gym set on a certain setting for a certain amount of time and work it out that way?

What on my hybrid? Ha ha ha. I finished in the top 5th though which given my perchance for drink and the occasionaly (regular) fag; thats not half bad. If I'd got some carbon fiber on board yes, I would have won.

I was told BMX ones can be too large and can catch on the ground when youre going around corners or something.

My god - neither..... shock horror! Now let me explain! I basically had to buy a new bike for a triathlon last month. As I didn't fancy doing it on a single speed I got a tap which as a hub gear with 8 of those little babies in it.. I like my bike (but get bike envy daily) - ho hum, if only we were all flush with cash.
Ahh, so I don't really need to be attached to my steed, and I don't wear cleats, just flat skate type shoes.

I got a charge tap the other day - yeah yeah, not amazing, but many ladder rungs higher than what I was riding...
Problem is it came with pedals that are sharp as razors (what idiot designs such a thing?). I seem to unwittingly manage to take regular chunks out of my legs and they now look like that of a 12 year old boys (beat up and scared).
Help! I need new pedals and have no bloody idea what to look for.

@kattiep - how fast can you pedal a bike that has minimal resistance for 20-25 seconds? If you can average a cadence in excess of 200rpm, you're fast.

I have no idea? I think my legs are built more for hills rather than super quick resistance free revs? I've never done a spin class, but I sure can pass a few odd sods on the roads!

No worries - I'll keep you posted. Its generally every week or 2 and we just do like 5 (or so depending on gossip) laps after work... about one of the free-est cycles in london when it comes to getting some speed up and not really having to deal with traffic (lights), idiot pedestrians etc.
