To the best of my knowledge, this frame was made by Neil Orrell in the 80's from 531c tubing. The previous owner said he had it resprayed by Steve Goff a few years ago. I've heard that a phone call to Neil Orrell (who is still making frames) with the serial number could reveal its history, although I haven't contacted him yet myself.
Quite light, and surprisingly stiff for a steel frame of this size, it's been one of my favourites to ride.
It's been used mostly on the track, never crashed. I've used it on the road to and from Herne Hill with a clamp on brake, although due to the tight clearances the front wheel can brush the frame if you slam the brake on. The paint is acceptable, just a few scrapes which I've photographed. I'd like £200, although open to offers.Top tube: 57cm c-c.
Seat tube: 57cm c-c.
Seatpost: 27.0
531c tubing. Not drilled for brakes.
Includes Stronglight headset and Shimano bottom bracket.
Dibs to be followed by a PM please.

If a 54 tt is too big for you then I think definitely the 56. Although the top tube on that is a bit longer. According to the charge geo, a medium plug is 545 tt, and a 56 track champ is 558. If you put a 100mm (or shorter) stem on it that'd shorten the reach by 7mm and might make it a bit more comfy.

The top tube length is the vital part really. I have long arms and like being quite far forward over the BB, so need the larger frame + a long stem to get the right reach.
I think if the bike is going to be track specific, then it's generally best to get the smallest size that will fit you with a long seatpost and stem. Maybe the 56 would work for that as it does for gizmond.
As far as a larger frame being more 'comfy', my 60cm is still stiffer and more responsive than any smaller frames I've ridden. By no means a comfortable ride off the track.
Will it be set up for the track? -

Many of the Barclays Hire stations will be closed for NYE apparently.

Ouch. Soldering the allen key bolts is a great idea though, is there any reason why that wouldn't work?
