Hey, I got my bike done by Armourtex in a matt finish called 'grey/brown'. It looks the business. A really deep chocolate brown that has some charcoal black also mixed into it, and the finish comes out with an eggshell sheen. Everyone comments on it. Would recommend it for those thinking of going matt black.
Sounds the nuts, any chance of a pic or even the RAL number?

Hi I'm up for the ride and the cake. Just slightly concerned about keeping up. Any idea what the actual distance is?
A bump for this ride, an ideal first ride for anyone who has not ridden out of East London before and wants to learn how to get to the Essex Lanes.
So here’s the planned route. We meet @ the Deli Café in Orford Road in Walthamstow at 9 and will leave @ 9, 15. The Café is shut at that time but they may open up for coffee if enough of us are assembled.
The Ride then leaves Walthamstow via the Lea Bridge roundabout and then goes out through Woodford, down the Epping New Road and through the forest to Epping. Depending on the traffic we may take the loop via the Tea Huts; actually, as the forest is looking great at the moment then we will go through High Beach.Instead of taking the Theydon Bois turn we will carry on up to Epping and then turn right for North Weald. Once though N Weald we will head for Matching Green which will be the turn around point. Then depending on time and energy we will head back via Ashlyn’s Organic farm for 11 venses
Once we have had our coffee and cake we can either go back the way we came, though it will be much busier by then or we can go back via Toot Hill to Theydon and then climb out of Theydon back to Epping Forest. I think we should avoid Epping.
After Theydon we can then have more tea and cakes at the tea hut or just head back to Walthamstow and go for a drink at the Nags Head in Walthamstow Village or both. I hope that we will be back by 1 pm.
the ride won't be too hilly, with the first part being a steady climb up to Matching Green. The return leg will be a bit lumpier as we go through Toot Hill and as I am also taking you down into the Roding Valley and then up to the forest again.
Regarding stops for drinks etc; I am happy to stop @ Ashlyn's Farm on the way up rather than the way back, but we can discuss that once we get to the Talbot roundabout.
Say if you are coming and PM me for my mobile.

he's so funny.
I think he's a frustrated stand up comic who's been forced to resort to dropping these comic pearls in this forum. He pretends to be interested in bikes but every thread he starts provokes such a wide range of discussion about topics like the nature of friendship and trust.
Alternatively, maybe he's a serth ifrican serial killer who kills cyclists for their frames!

Is it just me or are there some seriously obnoxious people on this forum, who don't seem to understand the rules of social etiquette?
In other words, their parents didn't teach them - probably cos' they didn't know their father and their mum was on her back somewhere whilst the babysitter was fiddling with them.
There might be some obnoxious people on this forum but on balance I think its you.

those who steal bikes and get into trouble know what they are doing. those who give out their details when doing nothing wrong are silly.
Surely we are all in the system already. Credit cards, bank accounts, socail security numbers etc....
All just waiting for the next disc to be lost in transit/found on a rubbish tip.
Cant see the big deal with giving your address to a nice policeman. After all if you're driving a car they dont have to stop and ask .

it would be yes. but a cop who cant tell if you're riding a bike thats nicked is a shit/human cop. you can't assume everyone riding a bike and wheeling one that their nicked.
another would be you dont want your details left on a bus, another would be you don't want your details on a database, another would be you don't give your details out to strangers. thats what my mother told me not to do.
today i experienced cops coming to a pub and saying "we're just checking no one is drunk" how antagonistic do you want to be? thanks pete and alugeh.
And there was me thinking you didnt like giving your address out....

Hi all,
this isnt a strictly ss question but I'm hoping you can offer some comments/opinions.
I am dusting off my Klein MTB and was considering getting the frame painted by argoscycles. Does anyone have any experience of their work?
I notice a few of you are running or have been running the Pace RC31 forks on MTB frames. Am I right in thinking these offer a bit of flex to soak up front end chatter but without the weight/maintenance of suspension forks?
Good? Bad? Alternatives?
Thanks very much for any input.
