I have been meaning to make an update of this, so I did 130 mile solo trip cross-country, after visintg Grandma and mum's side of the family, just got a train out from Taipei (capital city). PS That 30 miles was a bit of a non-sequiter into an off-road valley path, ended up in some fields of baby bananas and stuff.
I picked up a bike from one of the Giant stores (soft launch, not much info out there) in hualiane and returned it at Taichung, halfway down the country. Stayed over night in ReiSuei, just rolled up and asked in the village where was ok and ended up staying with a family who grew polemos. Awesome cycling infrastructure, each cop station has air, water etc. and signage is really good. I lost my map on the second day at 8am setting out on the second half. Dinner on the first night was at this amazing restaurant festooned with hundred of bike crew and motorbike crew touring photoes. Bumped into 2 Japanese journalists touring by bike doing a cycle report and on my flight into the country, I had a whole documentary film crew sitting in front of me getting shots of sleeping long-haul passengers and were doing a film commission by Giant/Merida.
Second day lunch was in a restaurant converted from two steam-train carriages from the japanese occupation years ago. The scenery was completely breathtaking, it was all photo porn. Here are some pictures.

At about 6pm today. Looked like collision with a driver turning left down Hayter Road so cyclist was hit coming down onto the Hill..?
Guy seemed ok but was lying on tarmac. Para's were asking him to try to move his feet, it looked like a sprain. Ambulance and police were on the scene already, though he looked more smiley than hurt.
Mr. Bianchi frame, black and turquoise colourway. I hope you're alright.

I've been going to a fantastic Japanese hairdresser's for the past 3 years, they are really damn good, you don't have to engage in moronic hairdresser chit-chat if you don't want to - and its about £36 plus shiatsu head massage. Ask for Nasu Nagano at B:ZAR and say Gloria sent you.
It's on Brewer Street just off Oxford Street actually. http://www.b-zar.com/contact.html

Clefty, would it be the same as this BMX on the right? This is me, as a 7 year old growing up in Hong Kong (on the right) before I graduated to something larger!
Nice to see this forum, will be dipping in. I'm in Brixton, commuting to Charing Cross on a dutchie, which is a tank of a bike but stopped for a while. My oral historian lecturer and neighbour wanted me to go on a 116km night ride with her and is doing a mechanics course which prompted me to have a look on here again.
I may get up the guts and go and do it if there are ladies rides being organised!

"The study was blunt in its conclusions: "Women may be over-represented in (collisions with goods vehicles) because they are less likely than men to disobey red lights."
By jumping red lights, it said, men are less likely to be caught in a lorry driver's blind spot, whereas less assertive cyclists who wait at the lights just in front of a lorry are at greater risk as they cannot be seen by the driver."
very good point
Worst thing was that the picture they used in the Guardian was of me. I had most of my colleagues who I'd never spoken to stop me and congralutate me on not being dead!..

Does anyone want to form a band? I play guitar, accordion and keys, sing etc. maybe something in the vein of Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy, Andrew Bird Matador, Sub Pop, Bella Union type of thing. but not entirely averse to Dischord Records or some kind of post-punk/post-hardcore noodling. Message me. South London based.Just play for fun.
Thank you ladies! Brixton Hill, the traffic lights at Fairmount Road, just after Negril. If that works?
Not sure about timings..
Nice to have 4 coming in together from the SWs.
