So what happens in this case then... I was cycling back from work tonight when some yank ran out infront of me on the road and because it was raining I did my best to brake and swerve and hit him. Where do I stand (aside from drawing my collision!)?
As for his penalty, a bit longer I think would be best, there is no excuse to ride like that on a pavement.
You should have dived off your bike into oncoming traffic, risking a fatal injury and potentially damaging parts of your bike. At least you wouldn't have hit someone who accidentally walked out in front of you.
Right?

1+ last week, a chav with his mobile glued to his ear was cycling very fast toward me on the pavement of old wimbledon town, when he was just about passing me, i scream into his ear "OI!!!!!!" and watch him wobbling into a piles of rubbish while dropping his phone down the drainhole with two police officier heading over toward him.
karma.
I was recently riding along the cobblestones at the top of columbia rd, bouncing around everywhere. I noticed a chav cycling smoothly towards on the pavement laughing at me. Just to make sure I knew, he even pointed at me. Unfortunantly for him he didn't notice that he was riding towards a lamp post until it was too late.

3 minute happenings..
Yeah, I was cycling down old street and in the distance I saw some dude aiming to throw something in air so when I cycled past it would hit me. It brushed my arm and I realized it was an egg (didnt crack on me but on the floor) I turned around, saw him laughing then cycled off. After going cycling on for about 10 seconds I thought nah fuck this so I u-turned and I saw the look on his face drop immediately especially when I hopped off my bike and he saw I was about a foot and a half taller than him, the two girls he was with shat their pants (I think they thought I was a rudeboy or something, ha!)
At first I was literally about to clock this guy in the face but I actually never fight and Im always the one to try and resolve conflicts on the street. I was just like "dude what the hell man, what the fuck was that about" and the girls where making up some bullshit about how they thought I was their friend cycling and how it was a joke. I was like "what if it had splatted in my face/eye and I crashed etc.." and they apologized. I didn't make a scene out of it, I didn't raise my voice or anything like that, passers-by didn't know what was happening - just kept it chill but i was pretty angry. They tried to make light after that being like "o cool trainers, cool bike blah blah and I just rode off.
To be honest I think I scared them more by remaining calm.
Sorry to hear about your mishaps cheevil you should move further up the W7 bus ride journey to Crouch End - its lot more friendly around here!! =)
There are a couple of kids that live in coucil flats just before the roundabout who frequently throw things at cyclists. I got rocks thrown at me, none of them hit but they were pretty fucking close.
I've had a couple of people walk out on the road and see me coming and just stand there smiling at me (normally suits). I normally feign a dramatic avoidance, though in one case I got so angry I just rode into a guy. I slowed down enough to not do anything serious, I just hit him in the stomach with my handlebars/fist as hard as I could. He was totally shocked by it and I managed to get a few swears in and ride away before he could really react.

After just having my ride stolen whilst locked to a tree....which i was leaning against at the time????!!!! (work that one out!) my new policy is to just not own a lock!!!
That way, i can't leave it anywhere = no theft....hmmmm we'll see!
Of course that won't work for all :(I pretty much never lock my bike on the street unless I really need to, and even then only for a few minutes and with my eye on it. I have my bike inside my house when im home (naturally) and when im at work I lock it in one of the locals back garden (which my work has access to). People are pretty generous about sharing there space if you ask/offer them a small something in return. Since I live and work in the east end I find I can't take the risk of locking it on the street.

Last sunday, cycling down Hackney Rd, I came up to a red light and snuck inbetween two cars to get in front. I was poised in a bad excuse for a trackstand waiting for the light to go green, when it went orange the cunt behind me drove straight into my back wheel. I quickly recovered and turned around to get a good look at him, he drove up to me with his window open and I said "what the fuck were you thinking?" and he screamed "another time then eh?"
No injury or bike damage, just left me shaking with anger. I read recently about pretty much the same thing happening to someone else with the driver yelling "next time call me if you want to die" or something similar.
I was too surprised and off guard to think about getting his license plate.

My girlfriend is looking for a bmx for short work commute and weekend rides. Looking to pay up to 50 for it.
If you have one rusting in your garage or know someone looking to sell i'd be keen to come and see.
I live in East London and am free most evenings. Looking for a London pickup.
Thanks a lot!

Hi. I am new to the forum (though I lurked) and fixed gear riding (in my third week now). I'm loving it. I joined so that I could get involved in rides/polo/drinks etc. Though I will probably be practising in secret for a couple months so that I don't embarrass myself by bailing dramatically on a trackstand.

DJ Shadow is good but quite variable, not much of a flow between tracks.
Fourtet is a good one too. Didn't know how to post it the fancy way.

I've been cycling for years, but started riding fixed about 2 months ago. Sometimes after riding, my knees feel really wierd like theres a lot of pressure on them. I try not resist my pedals too much (as I heard its bad for the knees) but I skid quite often.
Could it be skidding? Maybe wrong geometry/frame size/seat height? Everything feels right when im riding.
Does it happen to any of you?
Have I got tendonitis/am I dying?
