I'm looking to replace my broken mini cycle bell that I snapped when an Addsison Lee Ford Galaxy pulled out on me yesterday. I can't seem to find one with a clamp size that fits my thicker 31.8 bars (they all have clamps for smaller diameters). Anyone know where I can get one online or a LBS in central London?
I don't like shouting at pedestrians and prefer to 'ping' them instead... please help..thanks

The point is one of customer service. The amount is immaterial. If any business wants to keep its customers then it must look after them. If a business is failing then perhaps they need to look at why. A business only survives because of its customers and this is especially true of smaller businesses. Ignore the customer and they will ignore you.
You have a point, and I fully agree. What ever happened to 'the customer is always right' ? We therefore have the right to complain and to shop elsewhere. I would have bought at least another 2 more bikes from him (for the wife and kid) were it not for the racist rant (i'm originally from essex, not white, and have blacked out windows on my car, so he actually managed to offend me with a triple whammy). However customer service, especially from the mechanics downstairs is always excellent, and I do actually enjoy to pop in to see the bikes as the place does provide a unique bike shop niche for central London. It will be a shame if they move to EC1, but I guess the high fitrovia rents, Cycle Surgery, the imminent Evans Superstore, and me not purchasing those extra two bikes have taken it's toll.

Agreed it maybe time to stop dissing Velorution. Yes I was pissed like everyone else when the racist thing kicked off as I had just brought a bike from him at the time, however he has now apologised and said he had made a mistake so lets accept it, and move on and stop using this forum for personal attacks to him and his business - Its just not cool, and just not nice. I wouldn't choose to have a drink with the guy, but Andrea has mostly been friendly, courteous, and at times, been less so - but we all have bad days, so maybe he just has more than most. I've always received great service from the staff, especially the mechanic (Daniel I think) who once fixed my bike on the spot for free, whereas Evans would have made me book it in, wait a week, and charge £30 for the pleasure... so i really don't think £3 is worth getting your knickers in a twist

Yes - I know I should be supporting my small LBS, but they are over-priced, it's a recession and I have a family to support.. Therefore, having discovered that Evans, Velorution and Cycle Surgery honour online price-matching, I thought I'd put the theory to the test. I did some googling, printed some web-pages and went shopping... here are the results:
Kryptonite Mini D-Lock (£45 rrp) - Paid £27
Kryptonite 2m Cable (£9.99 rrp) - Paid £6
Brooks Team Pro Saddle (£100.00 rrp) - Paid £70
Can of GT85 (£4.99 rrp) - Paid £1.65Total Saving = **£55.33. **Happy with that - and no items to get lost in the post either.. Anyone else get some good deals?

A taxi almost hit me at the dodgy Bike/Pedestrian/Bike Lights outside the Lion King the other day. Bike lights were green as i headed out to waterloo bridge. Taxi appears from the right (the strand) and misses me by about 30cm. He must of jumped his red light, but 'swears' he didn't following our heated exchange aftermath..
Any one else had problems at the cross-roads? ie.. Are those lights dodgy?? or is the taxi driver being a cock? -
Apparently, Specialized doesn't like shorter people, or they think shorter people can wait longe... 52cm isn't available till early Jan 10... so I was told by all the bike shops who picked up their phone.
ExTra - Have you considered the Kona Paddy 2009 instead? These are on sale everywhere and the straight fork looks better and the ride is fab. I'm 5"4 and ride a 49cm which is a perfect fit. I originally tried the 49cm langster which was too small (52cm was better). We shorties are stuck with compact geometry but imho the kona looks less 'compact' than the specialized in the smaller sizes.

I ride Brooks B17 on my brommie folder which is very comfy as it's upright riding position. Now looking for a saddle that is a bit sportier for my fixed-gear with lower riding position on bull-horns. Having been a slight plonker, and sold my original mint early 90s leather Flite Titanium on ebay for £9.00 (originally paid £75 in 1993) last year, I need to redeem myself.
Any suggestions? Brooks swallow looks great, but is 6 times the price of the Charge spoon which gets good comments on this forum. Although none of the above mentioned saddles have a saddle groove, I'm just wondering if that makes a difference for you guys? - for me its not just comfort, but also the ability to get a boner that counts -

Having ONLY recently just discovered this and the owners racist blog from last year, his naive 'clarification' instead of a apology following the fall-out, there is a bittersweet taste in my mouth now, and will no longer use Velorution. I am a 2nd generation immigrant, not white, born in Essex, drive a Saxo VTR with black tinted windows, love London, love cycling and just feel that Andrea's bigot views have no place in this fantastic City of ours.
It is almost one year on and I am kicking myself for parting with my hard-earned cash, to this snooty, ignorant, condescending, insincere, arrogant, money-grabbing racist.

I agree - I have always had excellent service from Velorution, and always recommended them (even though I always felt the owner's customer PR attitude varied often..) I even brought my Brommie at full price from them, even though my employer only did 'ride to work' with Evans (who I tried to avoid due to bad service in the past).
HOWEVER...... having ONLY recently just discovered the owners racist blog from last year, his naive 'clarification' instead of a apology following the fall-out, there is a bittersweet taste in my mouth now, and will no longer use Velorution.
